Huggies "Jeans" Diapers

Just got back from the store and this is By Far the Dumbest Thing Ever. Disposable diapers meant/printed to look like jeans? Are you kidding me?!

Wait until they get all soggy and dragging down... wait, now they'll look like the 'hanging off my butt' jeans the boys wear.
Years ago I thought it would be funny to have a Calvin Klein or Sean Jean 'waistband' at the top of the diapers, because they always stick out. BUT, that was for a joke, a novelty.

Is it just me,will "jean diapers" become just another artifact of human stupidity?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Wow. This post, which is by far the most inane thing I have ever posted here, has received more responses than any other post I've put up. (at least I think it has.)

We, the some of us, obviously have some strong pro/against feelings about these diapers! It's been over a week and people are still posting. Very interesting.... and I'm still sticking with my original opinion. More stuff for the landfill --which is inevitable, considering their purpose.

I think they are cute...we usually don't have a wet diaper on long enough to worry about droopy drawers. I think they look like cute little shorts and are nice if you like to go with just a diaper and t-shirt in the summer months...

I am a cloth mom though... so I wish I could find cloth diapers that looked like jeans...

To each their own...

-M.

PS... they are special edition, to raise money to donate diapers to diaper banks ("cute for a cause") for families in need... so at least they are doing something...

I think they are hilarious and super cute. I wanted to buy a pack just to get a pic of my son in one, and if money weren't so tight right now I would have. Would I buy them for every day use? No. Do I think they are cute? Yes :) And they are the same price as the other huggie diapers, so if you aren't worried about quality then you don't need to worry about it.

The first time I saw the commercial, I cracked up. At the time, my son was wearing one of the cloth diapers I had made him... with a (real) denim outer layer.

My babies don't wear pants when they don't have to, so I'm pretty big on cute diapers. So much so that I refuse to throw them away. ;-)

I like the commercial because it's so cute, but the reason why I hate them is A. it's a disposable. B. it's a disposable with that much more ink and chemicals all over it and C. They are trying to be cool and personalized like cloth diapers.
Cloth diapers all the way! Sooooo glad my day care will now let us cloth diaper there!!!

That baby is a doll in the commercial! I have a confession to make. Yep, we bought a package but I have a daughter and when she wore dresses we would put em on her and it was sooo cute! We use the potty now! Thank goodness.

I haven't seen the commercial, but my thought was, "Oh, now they're trying to cash in on one of the cloth diaper selling points." Cloth diaper-ers have been making adorable diapers and covers for years and showing them off. I guess it was inevitable that the throw-away diaper world would follow.

The commercial made me laugh! =) I think they're cute but I never let my kid run around in just diapers so they'd have clothes over them. That's a good idea to give with a shower gift, though. =)

My dad just bought both of my sons packs of these diapers. I think theyre pretty cute for wanderinga around the house with just a L. jeans diaper :) Obviously I woudnt have my kids running around pantsless in public, but they are cute for home and family's home...

They are a novelty item, yes. Sometimes, its fun to do something a L. different. Some proceeds do go to diapering babies around the world. And they are actually no more expensive than the regular Huggies.

Since I am not crafty, I dont make my own cute cloth diapers. So my boys get a few weeks of fun with their jeans diapers from their Papa :)

I love the commercial! It's so ridiculous. They are not trying to make him "Sexy". They are making him super cool and walking around feeling like a million bucks. On the other hand, I hate those diapers. They have way too much dye close to the baby's skin and they are stupid looking. This last part contributes to why the commercial is so outlandish.

In theory, it could be cute, but, personally, I think they way they are made is awful! Merely for the fact that there is all of that ink wrapped around baby and cannot be healthy. I have a friend that uses cloth diapers, and she has a pair that is made with a denim material and even has little pockets; now that is cute!

Dumb dadumb dumb dumb......Is all I have to say about the Jean diapers...''When I poo, I poo in blue'' Yuck......I thought they were a bad joke when I saw the first commerical for it last summer. I almost bought some this winter because my target had them on clearance for 50% off...which for diapers is a freakishly great deal...I think it was a trick to get your kids to think they were awesome...so they could complain about it and you have to buy more, when they brought them back this summer.

Bah hahahaha.....Stupid Diapers!

Lol, me and my dad were just talking about those the other day. We saw the commercial, which is cute. and cuter when my 2 year old looked at me and said mommy he's not in a car seat. Me and my dad looked at each other with this puzzled look and I was like I guess it's good if for some reason you don't want to put actual clothes on your child.

To me, it reminds me of trailer-trash (I'm not tryna stereotype, I grew up in a double wide so it's observation lol) to have your child wear it instead of a pair of pants or shorts. Plus all that novelty stuff doesn't work as good as actual diapers. Makes about as much sense as toddlers in skinny jeans.. yuck.

Wish they had the donations on the regular diapers... I'd buy those. Or the overnights, I buy those anyways.

@spidermonkey Interesting point.. if my daughter had a dress that matched the diapers, I might buy them. I generally don't like to cuz even after 1 soil they seem to sag without diaper covers (or maybe it's just me lol) but that is a rare useful use of the "jean" diapers

I don't understand the point of these diapers. MOST people cloth their babies when they are out, so it's likely that no one would even see the design of the diapers. I'm sure they are more expensive, as well.

Babies pee & poo in them, so who really cares what they look like?!

I dont see the big deal. So what if they have a print on them, there just diapers. My mom bought me a box of them last year for my daughter, and they looked super cute. I never had her just wearing the diaper by itself, and in fact I didn't even realize that is what the intent was.

I agree. They are the most ridiculous thing to buy ever. Plus, what about the dyes in the diaper---couldn't that harm the baby??? I am sure they haven't done any research long-term about that--- it just seems stupid to me and once again the companies are sexualizing our kids. If you have seen this commercial, you will know exactly what I am talking about.

My MIL bought some last summer. I said thank you, but it wasn't something I desired in any way. For some reason she and my mom both thought it was super cool so I kinda just chalked it up to a generational thing and kept my thoughts to myself. So thank you for your post :) it validates my crabby feelings and I don't feel so bad for being so (internally) negative over a gift!

They print stuff on all disposable diapers. So what if it is a jeans print - they are cute if you have your kid running around in just a diaper or a diaper and t-shirt. They are not priced any higher than the regular Huggies of the same style, in white with Winnie the Pooh on them, we bought a few boxes of them last summer for my little boy. They were cute.

I never leave a diaper on my kid long enough to get it soggy and hanging down, though.

If you do cloth diapers, they have all kinds of fancy designs and cute little covers, it is just one more way to dress up your little baby.

I don't see why they are any better oe worse than any other disposable diaper, if they were priced way higher than the same Huggies without the jean print, that would make me think people were dumb for buying them, JUST for the design for extra $, but since they cost the same as the regular Huggies I don't see the issue with it.

It is kind of funny that so many ppl had something to say about it, though, including me - I only looked at it since it did have so many responses, it moved ot the top of the list and caught my eye!

BTW, the inside of the diaper is the same as the regular Huggies - my 2 kids have VERY sensitive skin, and My son could only wear Huggies for disposables, Pamers, Luvs and Off-brands/store brands would always give hima rash...but Huggies never did, even the jeans ones. The white ones I am sure have tons of bleachs and chemicals added to them to make them so white, too. Really any disposable diaper si putting chemicals all over your baby's skin...I don't think the jeans cooring is going to do any more harm than any other run of the mill disposable.
