Weight loss is a symptom of hyperthyroidism.
There are other symptoms - eye problems, heart palpitations, trouble sleeping, always nervous, etc.
It's manageable with medication.

I was diagnosed with a hyperthyroid (Grave's Disease). I didn't notice weightloss or feeling overly tired, but shortness of breath and palpitations is what made me sit up and take note of something not quite right. I also tend to be cold a lot, but can have sudden bursts of being hot. It is very easy to manage with medication and it isn't something you want to let go for too long because it can give you a ton of serious problems in the future as B pointed out. I had to have my thyroid dissolved with radioactive iodine and now I take synthroid daily. Very simple to manage. Good luck!

You need to have a blood test done. Those symptoms can mean a lot of things dependent on your age. Only a doctor can tell you for sure.
I was diagnosed with Graves disease in 208 after losing 70 lbs, developed horrible anxiety, didn't sleep thru a night for 2 yrs, couldn't breathe and heart raced. They finally diagnosed me when I developed severe double vision. In may I will be having my 6th eye surgery. Message me anytime, I also am in a wonderful support group on Facebook if you're interested...its a closed group so I could invite you. Let me know! You're not alone!
