if you use advantix or frontline even only a few months a year on your pets, you will never see a flee or tick in your house! even if you bring them to your house from elsewhere they will find their way to your dog and will die!
Hey Moms,
This weekend, at my in-laws, we encountered many fleas. Every time I was outside I would find 2 or 3 on my leg and that was just from walking from the house to the car. My poor toddler got several bites on his legs and tummy as much as I tried to keep them off him.
As soon as we got home we went in the garage and put all of our clothes (both clean and dirty) into the wash. We also changed into clean clothes from our home. Then we left and vacuumed out the van and suitcases before coming home. We do not want our own colony of these pesky fleas. Our home, dog, and yard have always been flea free.
Is there anything else I should do to make sure we have not brought any unwanted "friends" home with us? Is there anything I can do to make my son's bites feel better and not leave that nasty red mark

You're not likely to have brought fleas home on yourselves, and I think you took reasonable precautions to be sure there were none in your clothes.
For the bites, there's a homeopathic cream that I love called Sssting Stop. You can find this in health food stores. Also get another similar cream called Florasone (both made by Boerke and Tafel) and you'll be well-armed against all sorts of bites, itches, and irritations.
put clear finger nail polish on your son. if they don't get air they can't itch. and put garlic on your dogs dog food to make sure he doesn't get them. fleas and ticks hate the smell of garlic. :)
As long as your animals are treated your home should be fine. They can't live without an animal host.
