I had my daughter 5 months ago. Diet wise the only thing I have found to work is the LA weight loss program. My husband was on it for my whole entire pregnancy and he lost 75 pounds. I am now on the program to lose 60 pounds. Even if you only want to lose 25 pounds it is worth looking into, the program works.

I don't have weight loss info, as I too need to lose weight, but I have a suggestion for the acne. If you wash your face with soap, this is the reason for the dryness and then the over oily. You should use something like dove to wash your face or some other type of face cleanser that is less harsh. After you wash your face, you need to put some moisturizer on your face like Oil of Olay or something similar. The over oily comes from your face needing some moisture from being dried out and then you get into a never ending cycle of over oily, over dry, and back to over oily again.

I've been trying some new diet pills right now, and I will let you know how they work!! As far as your skin goes, are you using cleanser made specifically for oily skin? I had a struggle for about 10 years with oily skin and acne, and it just took the right combination of stuff to clear it up. I use Neutrogena's 60 second mask/scrub with an oil free cleanser afterwards. Then, I use Mary Kay moisturizer made for oily/combination skin, then I use Revlon color stay foundation for oily/combination skin. It's a long process, but to have clear skin, I think it's worth it. I know how you feel, and I know what it's like to just be at your whits end. You are also very young and hopefully you're acne problems should go away as you get older. I'm just about 24 now and my acne problem is just now going away!! If you're in the Tacoma area, though, I am looking for another mom to walk with to help me lose weight. If you'd like to meet up, you can send me a message either via myspace at http://www.myspace.com/wondermilf or to my email at ____@____.com Good luck, and I hope this helped you out a bit!!

You might have an underlying medical problem. Nothing severe, I had problems losing weight and with acne and discovered that sometimes thyroid problems can cause these symptoms also if you have polycystic ovarian syndrome these are some symptoms. You might consider getting checked for your thyroid and talking to your doctor. You may not not have these problems but I know from experience that I felt pretty down about my appearance after trying many things and not succeeding.
If you don't have a thyroid problem then perhaps your doctor can recommend a good nutritionist that can help you and your doctor may also be able to recommend a good dermatologist to help you with your break outs. Good luck.

Are you by any chance nursing him? I had aweful trouble with both being able to lose weight and with bad Acne until after I was done nursing my son...and I was 25! Once I was done nursing, I was able to lose the weight and the acne sort of went away on its own once my hormones stabilized. Good luck!

Hi A.. First off I have to say...BOYS ROCK! I have three! :) Baby weight is a problem for a lot of women I have encountered, including myself. I finally joined a gym (with a child care facility)and I am finally starting to see some results. I don't know anyone who is able to get back the same body they had before pregnancy, but with alot of work I believe we can get back to looking good. As far as your breakouts...speaking from experience, I consulted with a dermatologist and an esthetician and I was told that I need to be sure to moisturize every day before makeup application...on a freshly washed face. I thought that since my skin was so oily that extra moisture would increase my acne, but what was happening was since my skin wasn't getting the needed moisture (from a lotion) the oil glands would increase the production of oil creating more breakouts! So, I started religiously moisturizing every morning after my shower and before I applied my makeup and whaddyaknow? My skin started to clear up and I don't have any breakouts now except for the occassional hormonal pimple! I hope this helps!

Me: I'm a 35 yo SAHM/student with 3 boys. Ages 7 1/2, 3 1/2 and 22 months.

I've had difficult with acne and was told by a dermatologist that washing the skin until it's dry increases oil production. Use mild soap or cleanser only until the skin is clean but still moist. I still use OXY Balance crean on the eruptions and that helps to clear them up. It comes in a small (1 oz) bottle and contains 5% Benzyl Peroxide. It's made by SmithKline Beacham and can be found on the skin care shelves at Fred Meyer. Rite Aide and Walgreens or similar stores may carry it also.

I have learned that the less I mess with my face the clearer my complexion. I don't even wash it everyday and it's become less oily.

I do wonder since you have the combination of extra weight and acne if your hormones haven't balanced out since the pregnancy. I'd check with a doctor and have some blood tests done.

Hey! It's okay...to not be perfect! I promise, you aren't half as fat/ugly/zitty as you feel. I'm sorry your skin is rebelling, and you may not know it, but if you aren't sleeping well, your skin and your weight will suffer. What are you using on your skin right this minute? I think you should STOP using all the stuff you're currently using, and give your skin a break. If you are feeling dry/tight/itchy after washing your face, you are stripping your skin of its natural oil. That seems like a good idea when you are oily, but it actually causes your skin to FREAK OUT and produce more oil than ever.
I think you may be sensitive to one or more ingredients in your face wash and/or makeup. If you can, try using Cetaphil normal/oily facewash, and splurge on some Bare Escentuals mineral makeup. The mineral makeup doesn't clog pores, doesn't cause breakouts or reactions in most people (I haven't met anyone who's had problems of that kind with it) If you have a Sephora near you, or an Ulta, you can buy a starter kit with 2 foundation shades to mix, (these are powder, and come with a brush for application) a powder to set the makeup, and a shade for contouring, as well as an instructional cd rom or dvd, so you don't get it wrong. My boss uses Leeza Gibbon's brand, which Ulta also carries (We do wedding makeup/special occasion/lessons) and she loves it.
If I can help you any more, please contact me...this is my FAVORITE subject!
About that unwanted weight...sleep is important, if you're overtired, you will crave sugary stuff, which is hard to resist, let alone get off your hips! Everyone has a metabolic rate that's unique to them. You want to raise yours, so you'll burn calories more efficiently. Diet without exercise doesn't work long term for anyone. To see results, you have to stick with it, so don't go all gung ho at first, like running for an hour on day one, cuz you won't feel up to walking 15 minutes if you're too sore.
I hope some of this helps,
Take care,
A.

As for your skin, I had the same problem with the oiliness and then as soon as I washed it, it would be really dry and then really oily by the end of the day. one of my friends told me about a shower filter and it has worked wonders for my skin and hair. If you live where you use city water then there is gonna be bleach in the water. Some cites have more then others. The bleach helps to clean the water but it does a number on your skin. It dries it out to the point that it is itchy and annoying. as soon as I got a shower filter, I noticed a remarkable difference. Sofar I have only been able to find them at Home Depot of Lowe's and the one that we got was just under $20 and it is very easy to install. The one that my boyfriend picked up for us was in a clear package and the actual filter is shaped like a donut but bigger and the donut hole is only the size of your shower pipe. It just attaches between your shower head and shower pipe and thats it.

You should definantly try it. I love having mine. Plus like I said it helps with your hair too. It will make it feel softer and less frizzy (if you have that problem, I know i did)

Good luck with everything else too.

No help here with weight loss- as my youngest is 3 1/2 and I'm still about 30lbs overweight- but I have found what works on my skin (I'm 30 and still break out so bad and it's awful) is using a good lotion. My skin used to be oily- now it's dry to the point where my cheeks get this horrible flakey skin build-up. I use the microdermabrasion set but I ran out of step one and didn't want to pay $30 so I found that scrubbing my face with a loofah gets all the oils and dead skin off and leaves the soft new skin- pretty much the same as the microdermabrasion wash. However- if you leave it at that- your skin will make more oils which will attack your new fresh skin. Step two of the microderm set- it's this moisture replenisher- and it really works GREAT.
I don't work for MK- and I rarely swear by a product. Like I said the actual microderm wash I could take or leave- but the replenishing cream is AMAZING!!

Good luck.

I use sparkpeople.com to keep track of my fitness and nutrition goals. I love this website. As for acne, Im not sure how bad your acne is for you, I have oily skin problems as well and I tried a new line about a yr ago and was amazed at how well it worked for my skin. The line is called shiseido. I used their pureness line and you can find it at nordstrom's or macy's. Here's a link to Shiseido's website http://www.shiseido.co.jp/e/pureness/ Im not sure where you're located. the nordstroms at the alderwood mall may be able to give you samples of the pureness line.

Both of these issues could be helped by doing a serious de-tox. I would recommend going to whole foods and talking to the person in the 'supplements' section about a good first time cleanse. Liver cleanses can be very good for stubborn weight problems and really kick your system into gear. For most cleanses you need to have a juicer, but investing in one is SO worth it! I had a stubborn 20 lbs to lose a year after my baby and after I did an 8 week liver cleanse I ended up losing closer to 30 lbs! Now I am smaller than I was before my baby!
Detoxing will also help your skin because healthy skin, nails, and hair come from the inside, not what you use on the outside so much. While you are in whole foods talk to them about beauty products- there are some great natural lines out there that won't strip your skin the way commercial stuff will- making the problem worse.
good luck girl!

Hi A.! I use to work in Dermatology for years. I have tried everything including Accutane twice and Proactive. Accutane is good for very severe acne and is very hard on your body. You have to be on birth control before you can be on it because of the severe birth deformities that can be caused by it. I also used Proactive and it worked really well but I now know that there are ingredients in it that are not good for you. Everything you put on your skin goes directly into your bloodstream and now I am really thinking twice on what I am putting on my skin and my kid's skin. For example mineral oil is a known carcinogen and is in most skin care including baby care products! Europe hasn't allowed mineral oil in skin care for over 10 years!! So after all these years I stumbled upon Arbonne.... Arbonne offers pure, safe and beneficial skin care and actually has an awesome acne line. It is oil free and has an acne supplement that has lysine in it which is helpful in fighting acne and inflammation. If you are interested in trying it, I can get it to you at wholesale.

Regarding the weight loss... I would suggest a couple of things. First write down what you are eating. It defendantly keeps you accountable. Second, make sure you eat breakfast! It starts your metabolism. Eat smaller portions more frequently (this one is hard for me) and look at your calorie intake. I love the Arbonne shakes as a meal replacement which contains low carbs and sugar, and in high protein. Watch out for products with soy; soy can attack an underactive thyroid which a condition that can cause weight gain. Maybe have your thyroid checked? Add exercise to your routine at least 3 times a week. And last but not least think positive! When we want to lose weight we walk around saying "I want to lose weight". Put it in the positive and say "I am burning fat!" While your vacuuming say "This is a really burning my fat, I can feel the fat melting away". The mind is a powerful thing, just really integrate positive self-talk throughout your day. You can do it! Email me your progress!

Hi A.,
I understand the feeling of not being comfortable in your own skin because of weight and skin care issues. I have been on a program that I would love to share with you that has changed my life and my families. Not only did it get off my stubborn baby weight but I have kept it off and my skin is beautiful from using these products. When we don't put the right foods in our bodies how do we expect the outside to look good too! We have a huge epidemic in this country with obesity and I am on a mission to help assist people in becoming healthier and happier. When you cleanse your body your skin will follow and I think you could sincerely benefit from the program I use. Please let me know if you would like further information. I wish the best for you.

Definately have to agree with the posters who said Proactiv. I used it too and it works great but was too expensive for me. I found this guy Dan Kearn online and have used his really inexpensive method and my skin is better than it has ever been since I was 16. I'm 33 now. Here's the site http://acne.org/
As for the weightloss, I know it's hard My daughters are 4 and 5 now and I am still a few pounds heavier. But I have to assure you that you are gorgeous even with extra weight on your body. I found peace with my curves after studying pole dancing at Sfactor. I teach it now and my body is changing from fat to muscle. Plus the stress relief and sense of womanly beauty I feel when I am dancing has been incredibly healing to my self esteem. I teach women of all shapes and sizes. When we dance we are all smokin' hot!
Check out my site. http://divinemovementdance.com/ I don't know where you live but there are a lot of trashy pole dancing classes, so be careful. Sfactor is wonderful.

I had to respond to this one since I have delt with severe acne problems since I was 13 (I am 30 now so that is a long time) I have been to several dermatologists and tried every prescription, and non prescription under the sun, all to no avail. If you truly have bad skin many of the things that have been suggested will make your skin worse. Sorry ladies, but I have been there.

Honestly, my skin looks pretty good now and its because of Proactive. It can be fairly pricey, but there is now a generic version that works pretty well too, its called Acne-free and you can buy it at any drug store or even Costco. I dont think it works quite as well as the name brand stuff, but it may just be in my head =)

Hi A.!

I have been working out using a video that I bought from an info-mercial called Power 90. Its been about a month of working out 6 days a week (sometimes 5 because, you know, Mommy stuff) and I haven't seen huge results, but I am definitely building muscle under that layer of baby weight. It has cardio and strength training and muscle burns fat which is good! I haven't been following the diet, but have been watching what I eat more than I used to. Anyway, I feel better and can tell its working and am hoping to see more results soon. As for acne, I use a cleanser with salicylic acid and wash in the morning in the shower and at night before I hit the sack. I also switched to a mineral makeup and I think that was a huge help. I still get about 1-3 pimples a week, but that's better than the new batch everyday that i was getting before. Anyway, maybe some of these ideas will help! Good luck!

I would try the ball exercise. You could get that at a local sport store. The ball size goes by you height. I use it to tone and it works great. And my kids will get their balls and exercise with me. For your acne I would try something that is call Acne Free. You can get it at walmart. It should be with all of the face products. I use it also and I love it. The kit is about 20$'s. It's a 3 step system.
