I would not want the mushrooms either. It is because of all the rain and the wood chips hold the water and spores begin to grow. This kind of mushrooms are poisonous and it's best to get rid of them
We was the last time you replace your woodchips? They should be replace every few years. You might try raking them up, putting down a landscape sheet, then put down a layer of sand followed by new woodchips but you will not need to put as many down if you have the sand.
Landscape sheets can be purchased at Menards, Home depot or even Walmart. The sheet will allow water to drain and allow air circulation while preventing weeds to grow.
