How to Get My Child into School When Ready vs Based on Birthday

Hi Moms. Are there any schools in Southeast Georgia that accept children when they are ready at 4 or 5 years old regardless of if their birthday is after Sept 1st or whatever the cutoff date is for the public school system. Also are there any school or programs that actually teach and prepare 3 year olds for "real" school vs daycare style programs where they just play and sleep?

What can I do next?

I don't know of any schools in the area that will let your kids start "real" school early, but I agree with the prrevious post to never underestimate the power of play. Having said that, CCS is a private school in Stockbridge. We sent our son there for 3k. It was run like "real" school. They had music and computer lessons, daily class work, chapel once a week, and he learned a LOT!! Good luck!

I'm not sure where you are, but The Learning Academy in College Park has a later cut-off for age. I believe it is Dec 31 vs August 30th. My son went there for Pre-k...it is an awesome school. You can check out their website: http://tlacp.org

Don't get in a hurry for them to go to "real" school. This early play is very important to their social development. There will be about half the class within 6 months of their age and these usually do the best. Sometimes the younger do struggle as they teach so much more today in 4 and 5 year old Kind. then once was taught. The ones in K-5 should be reading by January. If you can find a Montossouri based school it should be great as they will be taken at their own rate. Some private schools will take them but are you sure you want them competing with children more than a year older with better social skills, hand eye coordination and emotional development???

There are schools that do prepare your child starting at age 3. My now 4 year old daughter has just completed her first year at Hope Schools of Excellence. They have been wonderful. If you would like to visit their website, it is hopeschoolsofexcellence.com and their telephone number is ###-###-####.
