Washed husband's work clothes with a blue pen still in the shirt pocket. I guess I missed it when I put it in the wash. It made it through the wash just fine, but in the dryer it exploded all over the clothes and the dryer. Managed to get the dryer clean with hairspray and nail polish remover. Washed the clothes using hairspray and shout and the stains faded, but are still noticeable. Tried alcohol and didn't notice much difference. Was going to try color safe bleach, they are khaki pants. The stains are all over the pants so it isn't like I can work on each stain individually.

you could try using hair spray. I've had good luck with that in the past. Just spray a good amount on the pen marks and rub it in- don't let it dry- and then toss the pants in the washer and wash like normal. You may need to repeat it a couple of times, but, like I said, it has worked for me.

DENATURED Alcohol!!! Works like a charm. I did the same thing and my entire load was a goner. I even ran everything through the dryer before I noticed. I found denatured alcohol, blotted it on the ink stains and they evaporated before my eyes. You can get it at Home Depot or probably even Walmart, in the paint aisle near the thinners. I promise it works!
I know you already tried it, but I always do the hairspray. It takes a while. I spray hairspray on the area several times (waiting a few minutes in between sprays) and wash it in the sink and keep repeating until all out.

My hubby changed out the ink in our printer a got red and yellow ink on his white polo shirt. I used an Oxyclean pretreat soak and then hairsprayed and then washed it with detergent and oxyclean. It came out. Since you have dryed it, try the soak with oxyclean and don't wash it until you see a difference.
Hope this helps....Simple Green has been known to work on stains like that as well. I have never tried it myself, but others I know swear by it.
I swear by Oxy Clean laundry. It gets everything out. I am allergic to Tide, but I my friend who has twin girls under 2 swears by Tide Tabs. Another friend of mine combines Oxy Clean and throws in a Tide Stain Remover and is so impressed with how clean her clothes come out. So, hopefully that will help.
My husband had a huge inkstain on some new khakis once and I could not get it out so I used some navy Rit dye and dyed them navy - he ended up wearing them for a long time! They looked weird on the inside because it dyes everything - the tag, etc, but they looked good on the outside! Good luck!
I love Sol U Mel by Melaleuca. I have used it to get out many stains that are hard to get out. I have also used their Pre Spot which has gotten out the not so tough stains too. Melaleuca products are natural, eco-friendly for the environment and the family and they work GREAT.
Don't know how safe this is on clothes but I once had a pen leak in my scrub top pocket and get all over the placed so I literally soaked it in a bottle of nail polish remover. The stains came out with a little scrubbing and a bit of a soak...the ink sorta just comes out so it will make a bit of a mess so I'd do it in a basin or something that you don't mind possibly staining. Only thing I know of for big spots. After washing it you'd never know it was soaked in nail polish remover or that it once had a pen leak all over it.
