Yeah, you definitely want to gate-check the stroller, it makes getting through the airport so much easier. You will have to empty it and fold it down to get through security, they fit easily through most conveyor x-ray machines. Once you get to your gate, ask the clerk behind the counter for a gate check claim tag, they'll either attach it immediately or just as you board. At the end of the jetway, just before getting on the plane, you'll want to again empty the stroller (I've left jackets in the basket that come back wet and freezing), fold it down and lock the wheels. They generally only get beat up if the guys loading up need to fold it themselves, since they don't know wyour particular stroller.
Also, we just had a Disney trip a couple weeks ago, and the most important advice is to work the FastPass. Go early in the morning and ride on Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean (with older kids) first thing before it gets crowded because they do not use FastPass. But the rest of the rides do.
