Go get New Skin liquid bandage. You paint it on and it seals and protects the cut. It was a lifesaver when My son was younger, he was terrified of Band-aids!
My son got a pretty yucky cut on his finger and I cleaned it and put neosporin on it and put a bandaid on it. But he would not leave the bandaid alone and just kept saying OW and pulling at it until it was no longer on his finger. I really think he needs to keep the bandaid on for a while to keep the dirt out and it was a pretty deep cut, so what if it starts bleeding again? Anyway, how do I get him to leave the darn bandaid alone??
Thank you Cheryl - I went and got some New Skin liquid bandaid. It's great! After I put it on it's like he's forgotten he even hurt himself. Robin - not helpful. Laura - Thank you! You're right, kids do not live in a bubble. He's going to get cuts and scrapes. That's life.

I never use bandaids. Ever. Even when they get a shot I take it off within a couple of minutes.
If your son's cut isn't bleeding then I would just leave him be. Just wash his hands more. If it starts bleeding again then just put pressure on it.
I don't *think* you want to use duct tape because that would go around the little air pockets that let the injury breathe (at least that's what I think!). I truly believe that he will be fine without the bandaid.
And PUH-PLEASE Robin M. How the hell is she going to eliminate EVERYTHING that can cut him??? He's not going to grow up in a bubble! He can get cut at parks, playing with his toys, books, play groups. Cuts and injuries happen. IT's a part of life.

Try not to worry about it. The neosporin is already in the cut and doing it's job. Personally, I would also prefer a band-aid and would want my child to keep the band-aide on. But there isn't much you can do beyond keeping an eye on him and making sure he doesn't further injure it.
Hang in there. My husband says air is good for those kinds of cuts!
Duct tape!
Good luck!

ETA - Laura, it was a joke!
you can't-that's why you have to eliminate everything from his environment that can cut him
