I'm pretty sure you can get info on homeschooling at some of the libraries and also maybe at Mardel's. My big advice though is to get involved in a homeschooling group or co-op so your daughter will have a chance to make friends and socialize.
My personal story is that my mom decided to homeschool me starting 6th grade for the same reason you mention, the school I was going to have to attend was very violent and poorly run. Anyways, I HATED being homeschooled! I was so lonely and really struggled with the schoolwork because my mom wasn't a very teacher, she didn't have a clue how to teach math or english or history, it was a disaster. I cried all the time and it was just a bad year. So for 7th grade she sent me back to school, the bad school that she was so worried about. And I ended up making it into accelerated classes and finishing at the top of my class in 8th grade. But I did have a really hard time making friends when I started in 7th grade because everyone else had already had a year to get to know each other and they all had their little groups and I felt like such an outsider for along time.
Anyhoo, I just think that that is just a really difficult age to try and do something like that, so be prepared!!! Homeschooling isn't for everyone, I am the oldest of 6 kids in my family and so far I am the only one to graduate from a public school and the only one to go to college, my younger sister decided she wanted to be homeschooled and graduated from that and then didn't go to college, and my other sister has been homeschooled nearly her entire life and then just started public school this year and ended up being behind so even though she should be a junior she is actually only a sophomore.
