Try a sleep sack. It's not a swaddle, it's not a blanket, yet it will make him feel secure & comfy. It's sleeveless, arms are free. I swear by it!
My baby boy will be 4 months old next week. He has started to roll over in his swaddle (front to back then back to front). He rolls over VERY well swaddled, but gets stuck on his arm when trying to roll unswaddled. He desperately wants to roll back and forth. He goes absolutely nuts when he is put to bed without it, and will scream for what seems like forever. I've now tried a positioner to keep him on his back, while allowing him to remain swaddled. My problem is that he rolls out of it, and moves it all around his bed. He has been a fabulous sleeper until now, and this whole rolling, swaddle, positioner thing is making him extremely frustrated. What the heck am I supposed to do? Thanks in advance for your help.

We also started by taking one arm out, once our daughter became used to that we took the other one out. She was highly addicted to the swaddle! Eventually we worked our way up to a sleep sack and then just regular jammies with no blankie :)
Take one arm out for two weeks then switch arms, then both arms out but keep his body wrapped tightly. This is how I did it all while our first move. It was nice, slow, but still comforting for my son.
Hi there. Can you swaddle him with one arm out? We took our "Swaddle Me" blanket an put a hole in it to do this (instead of buying a new blanket). Before that, we took a lightweight positioner (from Sassy, basically two wedges held together by a fabric band), sewed snaps onto it and on our sheets, and this kept the positioner in place. So we started with the snappped-in positioner, had that for a few weeks and then went to one arm out. In the AM, we gave our son lots of time to practice rolling over.

maybe switch to the velcro swaddlers, then just sneak in and undo it while he is asleep. Since there is no blanket wrapped around him, you won't disturb him.
I would also suggest a sleep sack. It gives them the security of feeling something around them and they can feel the 'weight' on thier legs, but their arms are free. My son loves his!!!
