How to Disinfect Fluffy Toys

I was wondering what products you use to disinfect the fluffy toys (or mixed media educational toys) that your kid(s) use. I have taken my son to some classes with other children present and noticed that some of the kids will put the toys in their mouths and suck on them -- I am sure mine will as well soon, and am wondering what kind of wipes I shold carry to disinfect the toys for him as best as I can.

I have clorox wipes, but since he will soon be putting these toys in his mouth, that is probably not a good choice. What do you think about using rubbing alcohol? Any other contact leave-on products that are safe for him to then put the toy in his mouth?

Thanks!
T.

T., in my preschool classroom I use the Clorox all surface disinfetent spray. It is very effective and safe. I recommend this product to the parents of my students and they agree. It comes in a spray bottle (not aeresol) that I'm sure would fit in a diaper bag. I hope this helps and God Bless your little one.

Clorox has a some what new product out that you can spray on any surface and it is safe for babies to tough immediately. I have used it quite a bit. You can get it at Wal-Mart by the other sprays, Lysol, etc. I think it's called Clorox any surface spray. I spray it on all my daughters toys whether they are stuffed or electronic.

I washed them once. Another time I put them in the dryer to get the dust off them.

If you are talking about when you are at a class or someone else's house, I guess use the Clorox Anywhere. Otherwise, I'd do my best not to let my child touch or eat the same toys. For example, at Gymboree they have a "slobber basket" for those toys.

Melalueca has an all natural cleaner..called Tough and Tender.... Available online...or try whole foods for natural, organic stuff. I hand wash my babies toys in Dreft and air dry them on a rack that I keep in the spare b-room tub. I also use Antibacterial wipes and Purell.. Neurotic I suppose but my baby is 8 months and puts her hands and everything in her mouth all day log and is never sick!

good luck.

Clorox Anywhere is a great disinfectant that is safe for children and animals. I go through about 2 bottles a week! However, that is for hard surfaces. For stuffed animals, I put them in dryer on high for half an hour and the heat kills anything that is living on them (including lice).
