try a blow drier to melt it a little more. then scrub with a tooth brush.. leave the windows open a crack at night and during the day... the smell will go away after a while... good luck
Over the summer we had a citronella candle tip over and melt in our car. It dripped down one door and onto the seat and floor. It wasn't lit, just melted in the Cincinnati heat! We were in the process of moving at the time, and it took us about a month to get around to cleaning it. Earlier this week I finally went out there and used a variety of products, including upholstery cleaner, "Goo Gone", ice, water, vinegar, and good old elbow grease. I was able to get out about 90% of it. I thought I could live with the remainder, but I just in the car for the first time since it happened (I've been driving our other car), and the smell was so nauseating!
I really need your help figuring out how to clear the smell out! Unfortunately, the amount of wax I couldn't remove is really embedded in nooks and crannies, or in the fibers of the upholstery and carpet.
This has always been our primary car, the one we take on long trips, or really anywhere when all 4 of us are going. It really isn't feasible for me to keep avoiding the car, but I also can't risk getting sick just from getting in the car.
Please help if you can! I'll really appreciate it!
Thanks,
S.

Someone blew a candle out all over my favorite brand new expensive dress. I refused to throw it out. I eventually found the answer. You can remove wax from stuff by putting newspaper over it and then applying a hot iron on a mid setting. I know it sounds weird. It warms the wax and it adheres to the newspaper. Hope this helps!
Oh yeah, you need to put a sheet or pillow case over the newspaper! I forgot that part, sorry!
I don't know what to do for the wax embedded in the nooks & crannies, but for the wax on the upholstery & carpet you can put a towel over the wax & iron. The towel will soak up the wax. You might want to google it for more exact instructions (not sure if you need wax paper between the towel & iron to protect the iron) but when I did this a few years ago it work pretty well.
Might need to have that professionally done. The larger car wash/detailer places will help you out, shouldn't be TOO expensive, and sounds like it's worth it! Least you won't have any mosquitoes in your car! (sorry, couldn't resist!) Good Luck!
