How to Clean a Wooden Table

I have a new end table and I set my sons bowl on it not thinking it would leave a ring. Almost like a water ring. The bottom of the bowl has a suction cup. I don't know how to get it off. I used pledge and I even tried a Mr.Clean sponge. Would appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

I read that you can put olive oil on a rag, leave it on the stain over night and then wipe it up the next day....have no idea if it works but worth a try

I've had excellent results with both mayonnaise and olive oil. The mayonnaise works best with harder woods like oak and ash and olive oil works better with softer woods like maple.

Coat the ring with whichever substance you choose and leave over night. In the morning wipe it off with a clean, cotton rag. As the oils absorb in to the wood and the wood dries (in a couple of weeks) you may need to reapply, but it sure beats buying a new table. :)

What kind of a mark is it? Is it a scratch? Use brown marker and rub it in the white. If it is a white water ring, use mayo and leave it on for a while, whipe off and perfection!
Good Luck!

Hey Mary,

How about calling the place where you bought the table. Maybe they could give you an idea.

Sometimes they sell products to protect the wood.

Good luck! :-)

If it's teak, use teak oil. You can buy it at a hardware store or furniture store or even Restoration Hardware. If it's a different kind of wood, I agree that asking at a furniture store is a good idea. You could also ask a hardware store.

Have not tried it myself but a friend swears by this. Take a plain white tshirt and place over stain. Take an iron and run it over the tshirt slowly. You will start to see the ring appear on the tshirt. Like I said I have never done it but I trust the person who told me completely.

Try Old English, scratch cover. During our recently moved, a huge scratch was made in our dresser. We used Old English, and now don't even see the scratch.

Possibilities, although I have not tried them myself.
Paint thinner, if used incorrectly, will ruin the finish, so be careful. Try the eraser and "goo be gone" first.
1. Scrub with a short bristle brush, very lightly dampened with paint thinner, WITH the grain.
2. Try a big rubber eraser
3. Rub lightly with 0000 steel wool with furniture polish or paint thinner
4. "Goo Be Gone"
