How to Beautify the Garden That Stays Through Winter

Not sure if you are talking flower beds or vegie garden. Flower beds are easy...pansies, violas, dwarf (nana) nandina (great red color all winter), daffodils (after chilling in the fridge) bloom in Feb in this area. Sweet alyssum, stock, annd snapdraggon, plant now for late fall, early winter color and early spring color. For a veggie garden I know there are a number of cold weather greens and kales but I'm not that familiar with veggies. Good luck and have fun

Hi S.....I use the mums & pansies mentioned in responses and I also use the ornamental cabbage & kale....they last and get pretty big so they take up room...look very nice mixed in with purple & yellow pansies!

I always plant Pansies every year. They last all winter long even when we have had snow and ice! I'm not sure of any other plants though.

Rosemary and thyme will stay green all year. Mustard greens, carrots, lettuce, spinach, make great winter veggies. Pansies usually keep blooming. Some roses will bloom all year too. Kale is pretty in the winter.

Hello fellow gardener.
You can never tell with Texas Weather, but pansies are traditional and they come in a multitude of colors. Although, I sometime still have roses blooming at Christmas.

I think mums will last too, although I don't know about all winter long, and you can get them in just about any color. They will also come back every year and bloom forever as they get larger and larger.
