My 19 month old loves to play with the pillows on our bed. Is she old enough to have a pillow in her crib?

By a year old my son had a quite flat pillow. He loved it! I think that thing got more play time then most his toys some days!

by 19 months they are way out of the risk of sids i would think. my daughter had her first pillow at 8 1/2 months (she had good head control strong arms and was already walking). my daughter actually has 2 pillows on her bed one semi flat one under her sheet to keep her elevated a little. if you are worried maybe start out with her using it at naps or by putting it under her sheet. my daughter has a pillow pet (a purple bunny and a lamb) they are great and you can put them in the washer then hang them to dry. and they dont go flat quick. we have had hers for over a year now and they are still nice and fluffy. heres the link to the site- http://www.mypillowpets.com/pages/pillows/pillowhome.html

My daughter had one at that age and still uses the same one (at age 4) and loves it. We purchased the flannel w/ the cover, it's super soft. It's made just for small children, check it out: http://www.leapsandbounds.com/catalog/product.jsp?product...

My daughter loves her pillow that we got her from One Step Ahead at around 20 months. It sounds like a good time. You can try it and if she is not ready, save it for a few months down the line.

I put a pillow in my daughter's crib at 17 months, but it was a very "flat" one. :)

Yes, she's old enough. I haven't tried one with my daughter yet. My sister in law said her kids didn't really stay on the pillow until they were out of the crib and in a twin bed.

Neither Wal-Mart nor Target seemed to have flat enough pillows. I found one that's about the size of an adult pillow, but really flat, at Bed Bath & Beyond. It says it's a kid's hypoallergenic pillow. It was around $25 ( I haven't purchased it yet as my daughter is still sleeping on her stomach in her crib). I haven't checked JC Penney or Sears, but they might have one as well.

my son, by that age, had one, in his crib. And he likes sleeping with his head on it.

As always, go according to your child and her coordination/ability to get things off of her.

Just use a small toddler size pillow, not a 'heavy' adult sized one.
You can find "toddler pillows", even on E-Bay.

Good luck,
Susan
