20*100/64= you left slightly over a 31% tip. Which is a whopping big tip.
Between 10% & 20% is customary.
10% okay, 15% good, 20% being excellent
Was I fair to leave $20 tip? Should I have left more? Pls. advise, thanks.

I would have to say no less than 15% if you like the work she did. Stylists, unlike servers, are committed to serving you and provide hands-on service the whole time for your appointment slot. I think 20% is a bit better- but most people prefer to go on the cheap side.
That's more than generous, unless she's your regular hairdresser and wanted it to be her "holiday bonus." In that case, I'd say it was just right.
$12 would have been roughly 20%. I'm in Pittsburgh--where on earth are you getting a cut AND color for $64??? Could you PM me? Thanks!
.
$20 is very generous. You will be remembered. 20% is usually fine.
20% is a nice tip, so you did over do it a bit, but chalk it up to "Happy Holiday's" and give them 15 - 20% moving forward.
My husband has trouble calculating and often just throws down some money.
Here is what I show him if this is the case for you.
$"6"4 Take the "6" and double it for a 20%...$12 tip.
All I have to say is WOW on that price. Just a haircut for me is $55, and I don't get washed and usually not styled so it takes all of about 5 mins if that to cut my hair and it still costs $55. I think color is another $55, so that is one awesome price! I tip maybe $5, sometimes I don't at times I have done $10, but like I said I am already paying $55 for a 5 min cut, so I figure I don't need to tip much. If it were cheaper I would tip more. Sounds like you were more than generous. and like other, I too want to know where you get cut and color for that price!!!!
i give 20 per cent to the hairdresser. yesterday I had my hair done so i gave my hairdresser (a male) a bottle of wine, a card with 40 dollars in it, and then the usual 20 dollar tip (20 per cent of the total). he seemed happy :). but if you're asking in general, not pertaining to holidays, i would say 20 per cent is always good.
$20 was more than sufficient. My haircut and partial highlights cost $60. I tip $10-$15 depending on how long it took to get my haircut (sometimes I want a style that takes longer than others).
I am shocked at the responses of people who think $64 is a cheap haircut and color! I feel like I pay a lot for my $60 hair appointment. I guess I need to be glad that is all I pay and I LOVE the lady who does my hair so that is an added bonus.
20% and I round up.
You got a great deal, I hope your stylist is good.
I am in the Dallas area and I pay $150 before tip for a basic cut/color
I think you overtipped but if you were happy with it then it was a nice christmas tip for your stylist. $12.00 would have been 20%.
$64 for colour and cut is a fabulous price. $20 is more than generous but not out of line as it's the holidays.
20% if you really like your stylist is more than fair. (that would have been $13 for your bill - I round up). 15% is probably the norm.
