I have 2 cousins that i may have babysit at some point (seperately) but im not sure how much to pay them. One is 16-17 and the other is 20 years old. I have 2 children, 3 1/2 and 14 months. Whats the going rate?

What can I do next?

Are the cousins sisters? If so I think I would pay them both the same. (If they weren't sisters I might pay the younger one a little less.) I pay $10 an hour. Seems to be the going rate around here. Either that or minimum wage, which is $8 now I think.

I have always paid my babysitters a little more than what they get elsewhere so that they will babysit for me first. :-) However, it's been getting harder to do that because most people I know pay $10 and I really don't want to try to one-up that!

Yes, if they are sisters you should pay the same. Otherwise, I'd pay $8 for younger, $10 for older, more experienced sitter. For our nanny (professional) we pay $15 an hour.

I have a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and I get $12/hr for 2 children. SO I would agree with $8-$10/hr.

I also pay my college age sitters $10 an hour for 2 kids. I drop down a few dollars for high school girls.
