Hi
I have paid $5.00 an hour for my 2 kids, so that is defenitely sufficient!!!
Hope this helps!
I'd like to know how much you pay a sitter (in Eugene) that's not family or friends. We had a teenaged sitter Friday night and I paid $5 per hour. Too little?

Julee,
I don't know the going rate in Eugene, but it definitely seems fair to pay $5 for one child who probably slept most of the time.
Did you still want to get together sometime to meet? I had sent an email on Monday about us getting together tonight for coffee, but wasn't sure if you had gotten it. I might still be up for tonight (7ish) or maybe another evening.
I'm going out to do some errands just now, but you can call me on my cell if you'd like ###-###-####.

J.,
We find that we spend $3-5 an hour for our two boys. When it's just one of them, we spend $2-3 an hour. I find that it's reasonable if your using someone who isn't a licensed daycare provider.
Take care,
A.
I think it depends on the babysitter and the age of the child. The younger the child, the more we'd pay. lately, we've been paying a college student with her own car (and LCC early childhood education classroom experience) $7-$8 an hour. A year ago, when we had a high school student who needed a ride to and from our house, we paid her just $5 an hour. Our daughter is now almost 4. In my opinion, childcare for infants should be higher since more care is involved.
Hope this is helpful! We've been slacking on getting childcare for date nights, but we'll hopefully start up on a regular routine again this fall!
