I've heard that it's about 5 dollars an hour. Although some do per child per hour.

I am so glad you asked this question- I have had the same one for a while now. We pay our sitter about $3-4 an hour, sometimes it feels too much and sometimes it feels too little so I would love to hear others opinions on this!
I have in the past asked the girls how much they charge and they always reply "whatever the parents pay."
Thanks for asking this!
I think it really depends on where you're at. I usually pay $5 an hour. In one area in Orem that was really high, which I didn't mind, But I think the other women did. They were paying $3 an hour. You could ask people in your neiborhood, or the people who would use the same babysitter.
I would pay $8-10/hr depending upon the number of children and the experience level of the babysitter.
Besides the fact that people in Utah County are pretty stingy, $4 to $5 an hour is pretty average in Utah and Idaho...if you have more than (2) kids, make it at least $5. If your kid or kids are a handful, make it at least $5. If the babysitter is old enough (16) to have a part-time job or does have one, you need to make it $6. Babysitters don't like to babysit for people who don't pay well and who have brats for kids. Hope this helps!
It depends how many kids you have and how old the care giver is. Are you haveing a neighborhood girl babysit or are you hiring an evening nanny. If it is a teenage girl, I usually pay $2ph a child if there is only one child I pay $3-4 an hour depending on the girl. If they do extra things around the house, like dishes or pick up I usually give a little bonus to let them know I appreciate it. If it is a nanny, I have no idea.
