How many portions of Fruits, Veg, Grain, Dairy etc. am I suposed to feed my one year old.

What I have been doing:

7:30 am - 8 oz milk (Lactose Free)
8:00 am - Breakfast meal (fruit and grain) from Beech Nut

12:00 pm - 1 (stage 2) veg & 1 (stage 2) fruit
*I try to rotate green veg and orange veg every other day at lunch.
4 oz juice mixed with 4 oz water

3:00 pm - snack (cheereos or crackers) & 8 oz of milk (lactose free)

6:30 pm - dinner (varies but I try to include grain, veg, fruit, half a string cheese & a protien)

8:00 pm - 8 oz milk before bed. (lactose free)

I am just not sure if I am giving the right amount of portions of each items.

NOTE: She is lactose intolerant & cant have soy.

I also give her vitamins in the morning mixed in her breakfast.

Does anyone have any idea of how much of each item I am suposed to be giving her?

What can I do next?

Sounds like you have a good thing going there, and it's wonderful that you're conscious of your child's nutrition.
Here's a good website about kids nutrition that also has a kids food guide pyramid

She should probably be transitioning to table food now that she's one. I believe that a portion size for a toddler is just a couple tablespoons. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 of a piece of fruit, 2 or 3 broccoli florets, a slice of cheese and a slice, or even 1/2 slice of lunch meat (we get the Hormel all natural kind that doesn't have nitrates and nitrites in it).

You might cut her milk servings down to 4 or 5 ounces. My daughter had a tendency to fill her tummy on milk, then not eat her food. When I cut back on how much milk I gave her, she suddenly had a better appetite!

I am feeding my 1 year old the same menu! It's funny but that looks like a typical day in her life and I was wondering the same thing. My pedi told me 16-17 oz of milk or dairy product a day. But he said that the menu is good - just push some more table food (a few bites here and there). I give her the YO-BABY yogurt as one of her milk servings and she LOVES it. I'm glad to see you have a one year old still eating baby food. She's getting interested more and more by table food... Anyway - just commenting!

I would actually not give soy milk (another mom suggested this) it actually doesn't have the good stuff that the little ones need for development and should only be given if you are going the vegetarian route, and don't want them to have animal products.

In my opinion, easy on the dairy and animal protein. There are great options with just as much calcium, such as soy milk and spinach. Keep in mind calcium from animal sources is not as easily absorbed into the body as from veggies, so just because the carton says X% DV of calcium does not mean that is what she gets. all the best, liz
