I went to the dr today and he said I was one maybe a little over one centimeter dilated, and he could definitely feel the baby's head...I'm 34 weeks as of today, how much longer do I possibly have?

What can I do next?

Probably about 6 weeks give or take 2 weeks :)

Sorry, but it can take a while. I was more than that for 3 weeks. Are you effaced/thinning? That is often more telling but not totally predictive either.

You are still pretty early, and you certainly don't want to have the baby for a few more weeks. And you probably won't. Babies are pretty good about waiting until 38-40 weeks. Good luck.

I walked around 3 cm...for five weeks.......Walk, Sex spice, walk, sex ,water,sex,spice...nipples:)

I that order or not in that order depends on your mood....Try and make it to 38 weeks....if not the whole 40....best for baby:)

I was 1-2 cm dilated for about 6 weeks. I still never went into labor & had to be induced. It's really not a meaningful way of measuring how much longer you have to go.

I would say maybe 3-4 weeks. Depending on how active you are.

I was at 1 went in for my next 3 appts and was at 3-4 for all of them. I would say ( if go by how I was.. meaning everyone is different) then you have atleast 4 weeks left.

You can walk around dilated to 4 for forever or you can go 0-10 in an hour. It's pretty meaningless, so I made the doctor keep his hands to himself!

I was at least a cm for about a month. I was due 1/16 and my last appointment a few days before Christmas I was a cm dilated. My husband was convinced I was having a Christmas baby...nope...actually went past my due date and he was born very early 1/19. Wishing you a healthy delivery about a month from now :-)

I hope you have atleast 3-4 more weeks. I had my son at 37 weeks and we were scared to death that his lungs wouldn't be developed fully. Thankfully they were, and he was a whopping healthy 8lbs 4oz.

You could walk around being 1cm until 40 weeks, you just never know.

Added- In your last post from a few weeks ago you put you were 34 weeks then too? Did you make a mistake on this post and are farther than 34 weeks?

What's the big rush? Babies come when they want. The longer in utero, the better. I would not put much thought into this as an accurate labor predictor.

You have until two weeks past your due date like anyone else. Being a cm dilated or any amount dilated plays no bearing on when labor starts, sorry. You may have shaved two hours off your labor time, but dilation does not effect when labor starts.

You could go into labor tomorrow or at 42 weeks. Dilation really doesn't mean anything. I was in labor for 12 hours and was still 1 cm (I'd been 1 cm since 34 weeks); then an hour later, I was 9 cm. I was holding my baby less than 2 hours after being 1 cm.

Seriously, dilation hardly means anythig -- even in labor, it won't tell you how close you are (if your Dr tries to do something because you're
"not progressing" because you're not getting more dilated, realize that's not necessarily true. I was in HARD labor for hours and "wasn't progressing" by dilation, but was actually going through transition -- the last stage before pushing -- while I was 1 cm. We could tell by the signs since I wasn't medicated).
