Baby vomit...

Baby girl turned 7 months today (where does the time go?) and I'm concerned that she is spitting up way too much. She kind of always spit up a lot... thing is, she doesn't do it all the time, but it seems like lately it may be getting worse... She has been spitting up several times a day, and it's not just a little dribble, it's like a handful (I've gotten good at catching it, lol)... She isn't eating baby food (she hates it and I've tried lots of flavors). I am starting to give her mashed solids slowly, making sure she can swallow it... She currently takes about 32 to 40 oz. of formula a day, give or take. I usually have her somewhat upright when I feed her, and I always make sure she burps. Never diagnosed with reflux, and doesn't seem to be in particular distress.

Thoughts?

What can I do next?

Sounds like teething might be starting up.
Some kids just spit up a lot.
It seems to settle down and disappear at about 1 yr old, give or take a few months.

I would take her to a Pediatric Gastroenterologist. They can help you with any gut issues. They work in tandem with nutritionists as well.

I don't think you have a problem at all, L.. It's just her body growing and adjusting.

Keep offering the food. She doesn't need it for nutrition - only for getting used to textures and flavors, and learning to use her mouth in a different way. It works her oral musculature to help prepare for the later work of learning to talk.

Don't worry about the spit-up - she's fine!

Smiles to you!

My daughter had gastric reflux, but it was evident from birth, and she spit up WAY more than a handful at a time. Still, I don't think as much spit up as you're describing is normal, and I would consult your pediatrician. Also, do you burp her a lot? That does help.
