Does anyone know how much my 10 month old needs to be drinking of formula? He eats a lot of solid food, so I am hoping he is getting enough formula, or does it matter as he eats so much solid food (he often out-eats my 3.5 year old?

What can I do next?

I have three sons and all three of them were completely off of formula at 10 months. Once they were eating plenty of solid foods, I switched them to whole milk. Two of the three were actually broke from the bottle at that age and drank their milk from a sippy cup.

I do not have little babies anymore but I have four kids and I always let them tell me when they were hungry. He will let you know. Just follow your instincts and you will be fine.

Hi!!

many may not agree with this but y children were all formula by the age 10 months... my 1st one was was 10 months and my youngest 2 were off completely by the time they were 6months old as they could not tolerate any of it.. i placed them on vitamin d milk and added vitamins.. I also kept them on the baby food until about 12 months or so..

Hugs, H.

Every parent has to do what they think is best for their child....but to answer your question...I believe that I read somewhere that they should get somewhere between 24 and 32 oz of formula a day. My 9 month old daughter gets 24 oz a day. She takes 3 - 8 oz bottles a day.

I hope this answers your question and helps you out.

I can share with you what our 10 month old did, but remember that every child is different.

Breakfast - 6 oz, along with a jar of stage 3 oatmeal or cereal with fruit
Lunch - 6 oz, along with either a jar of stage 3 veggies or meat/veggies combo OR finger foods of veggies & fruits
Dinner - 6 oz, along with a jar of either fruit or veggies (stage 3)
Before Bed - 7 oz

Personally, I like for my child to take the formula first then foods second.

Call your pedi and ask, they will have the info you need. Can also do an internet search too if you want.

There was another similar question. I typed out my neices eating schedule, she is 11 months. I take care of her occassionally. She gets 5-6 6oz. bottles a day. Oatmeal or rice with breakfast bottle. A fruit and a veggie with lunch. And 3 different things with dinner. Lately she has been eating more regular food--so lunch is more like a toddler lunch than a baby lunch now.

I wouldn't switch off formula until closer to 12 mos. My niece is 9 mos and since going on solids at 6 mos has cut way back. I'm pretty sure she maxes out at 16 oz/day, but some days gets as little as 8. She just isn't interested. She's much more interested in eating. I have to push her to drink 2 oz at a time so she doesn't lose interest. I'm pretty sure a pediatrician would say she needs more, but you can't force them to suck. She is also quite the piggy when it comes to food.
