How Much Breastmilk for an 8-Month Old?

Hi Mamas,
My husband and I are taking a much needed 3-day vacation without the kids in a couple of weeks. This will be the first time we have left our 8-month old son overnight. He is exclusively breastfed and used to me being around as I am a SAHM. He will take a bottle, but I'm not sure how much breastmilk he needs per day. I want to be sure that I have enough pumped and stored for him for the three days. He currently eats 3 meals of solid food, plus nurses about 5 times a day. How much does/did your baby drink at this age? I'd especially love to hear from working moms or anyone else who exclusively breastfeeds, but from a bottle most of the time.
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I worked full time shift work with my oldest and exclusively breastfed (my command had a lactation room and hospital grade pumps so all the nursing mamas had to do was buy their own attachments). At about 8 months my son started a growth spurt so he was taking 6 to 8 ounce bottles by that time. I would say that for three days you should put aside 5 bottles per day of about 6 or 8oz each (you'll have to decide which, and you can experiment before you leave to see which seems best, start with 6 and move up if need be) and then set aside an extra bottle worth per day just in case of accidental waste or something. That would work out to a total of 18 bottles.

Make sure to have whoever is watching him thaw the milk in the fridge. Every night they should put the milk set aside for the next day into the fridge to thaw. That way, it is thawed by morning plus they can try smaller amounts with him first this way without wasting any of it.

Hope this helps and have a good time on your vacation!

I work part time and my son is exclusively breastfed. At around 8 mos., he was taking 5 oz. bottles three times a day (between 9am-5pm). He would also nurse before going to bed and he was still getting up twice in the middle of the night. I think it's better to have more milk than not enough so I agree with Dyreka - maybe have 40 oz. a day. Also, you might want to try a practice run to see how much he's drinking. Have a great vacation!!

I would probably say 5 oz at each feeding (that is how much my son took in bottles when he was in daycare). Maybe 6 if he is a voracious eater :)

My son is 6 months old and exclusively breastfed. I work full time and he typically eats 28 to 42 ounces a day. He will eat anywhere between 2 to 6 ounces per feeding.

Have a great vacation!

My son was exclusively breast feed, well breast milk because I worked full time. He would only drink 4-5 ounces at a time. He got about 5 feedings a day, 3 at school and once in the morning and once in the evening. Each kid is different.
