How Many Shirts Do You Have?

We just moved to a really small apartment (okay it is a big 1400 sq ft apartment, but feels small compared to our 2400 sq ft house with a full basement and barn)........so, here is my question. How many shirts (per season) do you have in your closet at any given time?

The reason I am asking is that my husband is a stuff-aholic and I feel he has too many shirts. The crazy thing is that he complains about the kids having too many clothes in their closet, but he has more than they do. And no......he does not have a corporate job or anything like that. He wears t-shirts to work everyday. So, I was just wondering if I have not enough clothes or he has too many, since we seem to disagree on how many shirts a person needs to have. lol

What can I do next?

Girl I don't even get closet space! HAHA my husband has probably like 50 shirts that are pretty much all season here for us in TX/LA (we're on the border) we don't even realize it until I'm picking a shirt out and I'm like man you have more stuff than i do!!

I think the right amount is the amount that fits comfortably into your own closet area and/or drawers without stuffing, cramming, and the items being wrinkled.
I prefer to have less, but really LOVED clothes. My husband prefers quantity. That's the beauty of separate closets! :)

Tough question. If you have shirts that have not seen the light of day for some time then you have too many that you no longer use. I try to purge these periodically and it helps. Now my husband has more clothes than me and my 2 children combined. I don't get rid of his stuff and well neither does he....

I have too many. I live in a small apartment, with a small bedroom closet. I also have shirts in drawers and under-bed storage. I have shirts for my professional work, for my casual work, for home, for working out... I know it is time to purge, but I find it hard to get up the energy for all that decision making. I'm waiting for the urge to purge to hit - and it usually does.

maybe 300? of which 40 i actually wear. But most of them are camisole tops (houston weather)

my husband has just as many, if not more, than me though.

I think the better question is how many of the shirts does he actually wear regularly?

Good rule of thumb - if it has not been worn in 6 months, it goes.

My husband has shirts that haven't seen the light of day for 2 years in his closet. He just never cleans it.

To answer your question - I probably have about 300-400 shirts (TOTAL guess) in my closet per season - however, I have a corporate job where I wear dress clothes (mostly suits, or dress shirt and skirt) to work daily. I then have my "running around on Saturday with the fam" shirts, then my "running errands on Sunday" shirts and then the oh so plentiful "I am sitting around and don't mind getting spit up on these" shirts. So, I would think hubby could downsize if it means better organization =) Just don't force him to get rid of stuff he doesn't want to. That never goes well.

Have a yard sale, make a few bucks.

Good luck!

When my husband and I got married we had another closet added in our bedroom. So, my husband and I each take up one fullsize closet with double rods and shelves on the sides. I can't even count how many shirts we each have. I'd guess hundreds each.

I am a SAHM, I have for the summer 1 maxi dress, 1 or 2 knee length summer dresses, 5 or 6 tops, 1 or 2 long drapy vests, 1 or 2 tank/sweater sets for cool nights, and about 5 tank tops for layering and bed time. I have 2 skinny jeans, 2 capri pants, 2 "comfy" around the house pants and one pair of "going out pants" Black and one "fancy dress" if my maxi is not fancy enough. I may pick up one or two more things along the way during the summer if the price is right but that is my summer wardrobe! My man, he too is another story, he works in uniform and often changes into a tshirt and comfy pants but he has probably 10 tshirts, 5 nice going out tshirts, 5 button down going out shirts, 6 or 7 pair of jeans and 2 around the house shorts. I do not like men in shorts in public! So, between his going out clothes, around the house clothes & work clothes he hogs the closet!
