How Many Ounces Pumped at Work?

I'm just curious to see how many ounces people are pumping at work. My first pump of the day, I pump out about 10 ounces total. As the day goes on, I pump every 3 hours for 10 minutes and only get about 3-4 ounces total. When I see that no more milk is being pumped out with my electric pump, I try squeezing the rest out until I don't see anymore. This seems so little......

What can I do next?

Hi M.,

I pump at work too and as the day goes on I do pump less and less. I think it's normal. As long as your drinking plenty of water and stick to your pumping schedule then there's no need to worry. I also drink the Mother's Milk tea and it seems to help me get a little more milk. I hope this helps ease your worries. :)

M.,

You are doing a great job, so don't worry at all! As long as you keep pumping AND let your baby girl nurse when you can, you will be fine. As the other mommies said keep drinking water and eating well.

Best of luck!

Just to compare (and see that everyone is different) I wasn't able to get more than 1 oz when I pumped, this is from both breasts for about 15 minutes a side - using a hospital grade pump, so your 10oz sounds like a mother load to me! LOL

Do make sure that as the day goes on your are drinking plenty of water, eating well and limiting your stress! (yikes, sounds almost impossible, doesn't it!?)

Congrats on pumping at work!

I think that that is normal. With both my kids i pumped less and less as the day went on. I would start out with 12 oz, (2 full 6oz bottles) and by the last pump of that day i would maybe get 4-6oz total. Just make sure you drinking lots of fluid and eating well.
keep up the pumping!!

HI M.,
Water intake has everything to do with your milk supply. Are you drinking most of your water at night? That would make sense why you get the most out of your first pump of the day. Also, nerves can play a toll on you too.
I noticed that my milk supply was affected by the above two reasons. Once I started being more concious of my water intake and relaxing (not thinking about how much I was/wasn't going to get) while pumping, I noticed that I was able to get more milk.
I hope that helps you out.
