it's one week since my 3yr old started diahrea. Her poopoo is not that watery but it's loosen and smelly. and it's more than 5 times a day. it's getting a little better since then. but very slowly. we went to ped. but ped didn't give her any medicine or order any lab tests. (Two day before she got sick I had diahea and low fever. It took me 3 days to recover the diahrea.)
Thanks

Give her some Florastor (*probiotic). Should clear her up in a day.

In a recent bout with stomach bug, it took my two-year-old about two weeks to completely get over his diarrhea -- at least one week of really watery bm. I tried to stick to the BRAT diet, and found that not giving him milk during that time really helped.

It will probably run its course soon and she will be ok. Are you doing the brat diet? Bananas, rice, apples and toast? I would stick with that for now since her system is off course. Good luck

One time my son had diarrhea that felt like it went on forever. It was probably 2 weeks. As long as you are giving her lots of fluids and sticking with basic foods, and she is not acting sick in another way, it is probably fine. If she gets lethargic or feverish I'd take her in.

My doctor explained to me that with little ones, when they have diarrhea, it destroys the psillia in the intestinal tract, (the finger-like projections that line the intestines) and that it takes the body awhile to regrow it. That is why it takes little bodies longer to get over diarrhea. No medicine will make that happen any quicker.

How long it takes to get over depends on what's causing it. Does she act sick otherwise or is this her only symptom?
