O.O.
Was the blood in his urine? I think that would make a big difference.
Hope he's OK! :)
How long should it take for blood to clot once it's left the body? I had to take our dear one year old pup to the vet this morning after he started bleeding from, well, his penile area. Sorry, I can't sugar coat that one. So far the vet has given him a vitamin K shot in case it's a coagulation or poisoning issue, an antibiotic in case of either a prostate or kidney infection, and has overnighted his bloods to labs to check for rat poison, infection, and coagulation issues. She said the other possibilities are him having passed a bladder stone and trauma to the area. They can/will U/S for stones and prostate issues depending on how the labs come back.
Getting back to my original question, I went home during lunch to clean up the mess left from this morning. The blood he had shed on the concrete inside the garage was still completely liquid. Shouldn't it have coagulated after 4 hours? I will definately mention it to the vet when she calls back at the end of the day.
Thanks all for anything you can offer.
No, there was no urine with the blood. The vet confirmed this.

Yeah, if it's mixed with urine, it not going to clot like if he cut himself.
Blood won't clot if it's mixed with something that is acidic - like urine.
When the butcher use to collect duck blood for making czarnina, they'd mix it with a little vinegar which keeps it unclotted and liquid.
Are you talking about drying? It would depend on the temperature of the floor.
