I have had 2 miscarriages in a row and as you can imagine I have a one track baby mind. The Dr wants me to at least have one cycle after my D&C before starting to try again. I fully intend on following his orders but I was just wondering how long it took for your cycle to come back after a D&C. It's been a little over a week since my D&C and I am still bleeding. He said I could for a couple of weeks. I'm suspecting a couple of months but I just wanted to know how long it took for your cycle to come back after D&C. TIA!

What can I do next?

I'm so sorry about your losses. I had a D&C in Sept. of 2002 and my dr. told me the same thing as yours. I was pregnant that December. I know how hard it is! Take care and God Bless!

I'm so sorry H....I know how you feel, because I've been going through something similar myself. I didn't have a D&C, but it did take me about 3 months to start my cycle again after my miscarriage. My dr. also told me that I need one regular cycle before trying again (which, with the 3 month delay, means we're just able to start trying again now). He said that some dr's say 3 cycles, but that's mostly for emotional/psychological reasons, since some women get their period a month after their miscarriage, which might not give them enough time to grieve. My thoughts and prayers go out to you!

My doctor had me wait 3 normal cycles before trying again to reduce the risk of another miscarriage, she said. My cyle returned pretty quickly.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I've been through a miscarriage 3 times in a 7 month period. I lost one pregnancy naturally and it was just like a regular period with another period a month later. I lost one by using cytotech, and I bled for about 1 week after that, and my next period didn't come until 6 weeks later and then I was regulated again. After the D&C I had, I didn't bleed at all, and my period came right on time after that. If I were you, I'd wait at least a cycle or two to get your body regulated. It's been through quite a trauma. My doctor suggested waiting 3 cycles. He said if I tried before that, the miscarriage odds are at 50% where if I waited, they went down to 20-25% just like if you hadn't just had one. I know it's hard to wait when you have your brain already set in baby mode. We'd already told our family too. GIve your body a chance to heal. Best of luck! I'm sending you a giant hug through the monitor right now.

H.,

I am so sorry for your loss. I had an ectopic in Sept 08 and had a D&C. I immediately started acupuncture and my cycle was regulated in 2 months and I got pregnant in month 3. I am currently 31 weeks along with our first son.

Give it some time and take care of your body.
