I continue to use the thicker pants for my 3 YO. I have told her when she makes a regular habit of cleaning (we call it the paperwork), she can wear pretty panties. They keep her a little more dry after using the restroom and not wiping.
hi moms. i have been slowly and gradually potty training my daughter since she was 18 months old (shes 21 now). we still have accidents and shes just starting to tell me hear and there when she pees or poops (ill ask her and she says no lol). i currently have her in panties all day except when she sleeps. but i was thinking of doing the thicker training panties with the plastic pants and still using the pullups till im ready to night train her. how were your experiences with this approach? im trying every way i can think of to save money and i think this will help. plus i think my daughter is ready to go all in with the training. any advice is helpful!

The thicker ones are great as they are more absorbant and catch more from accidents. I would recommend it. Less messy. Since they weren't too exspensive any yucky #2's went straight to the trash. We referred to pull ups as sleeping panties. Good luck.
We used the Dri Days training pants from leapsandbounds.com -- they are fantastic!! Also used them at night...Pricey at $10 each, but definitely worth it, and actually cheaper in the long run than pull-ups. Best of luck!
