How Do You Get the "Crud" off Your Stovetop Burners?

Does anyone have any secret remedies for getting the cooked-on black stuff off your stovetop burners, OTHER than using lots of elbow grease and steel wool? Is there something you can soak them in to soften or remove it?

Thanks!

Put the burners in the sink and spray Dawn Power Dissolve on them. Let them sit for a while (even 30 mins is ok).. then take the rough side of a dish sponge and lightly scrub.. most of it should come off... you can use Bar Keepers friend as well.. but you will have to scrub a lot more... Keep kids away and use gloves when doing this since that stuff is pretty nasty!

Good luck! I hate cleaning my stove but this works for me!

Bar Keeper's Friend....this stuff is AWESOME for tons of household cleaning (ie: stovetop burners, kitchen sink, bathtub, etc.). I use it daily and won't clean my kitchen or bathroom without it. You can find it at Walmart and usually Target as well.

Magic Eraser sponges are pretty good at getting the black, deeply baked into the surface stuff off of the enamel finish. (I have to add here that although Magic Eraser has some wondrous properties, you have to be careful with them - I've removed paint from a wall and also irritated my skin. They're non-toxic, but the surface is highly abrasive. Use gloves, and don't let your kids play with them.)

I like to use the soak and scrub method with Mrs. Meyers scrub powder. It's non toxic and eco friendly so I don't worry so much about my kids wanting to help clean. It smells lovely, too! I use it for scrubbing sinks and showers and all sorts of things. You can find it at Target and Whole Foods.

you can soak them in ammonia over night. that would soften the gunk and you can rince with water and then scrub them a little as it would come off very easily.
make sure you don't let kids get near it! we soaked them in a bucket outside.
good luck,
