How Do You Find a Lost Friend Online?

First I must say I dont know alot about the computer so thats why I am here. I lost contact with an old friend and have been looking for her online. My problem is I keep running into sites that want you to pay to find people. Is there anyone out there that knows where to go online to find an old friend free of charge?

What can I do next?

If you don't find them on FB, you should try spokeo.com, there you will find more than you'll ever need to know about someone.

Facebook. My mom found her childhood best friend that she hadn't spoken with since the late 70s early 80s. She got a facebook account not even a year ago, they found eachother within a month, and she is going to visit her this summer. I can't say it will definately work, but I think it's a good possibility. More and more people are giving into facebook and other social networking sites. So if she's not on it now, it doesn't mean she definately will never be on it.

I agree with J.R. I have found a lot of old friends on Facebook and it's been fun to find out what they're up to now!

facebook would be the first place to try and its free. If you don't find her look for people she was friends with they may hae her on their own friends list. For a long time my facebook only had my married name. I didn't even think about putting my maiden name in. Then someone said hey how can people find you without it fi they don't know the married name. the second place to try would be classmates.com. it is free to sign up for the most basic thing which puts your info on the site. but to do all the email etc.... it costs like $15 for 3 months for the gold plan. I did it only for a short time. just long enough to connect with the people I wanted to connect with lol.

Yes to facebook also look for mutual friends, they may have her info.. Google her parents and siblings names. There is a way to look for "groups" like from her college or former employers.

Google her name. Also try a search with high school info. Then try former employers. Google her parents or siblings.

Classmates.com helped us find a ton of people we had never found for past reunions. Again send messages to mutual friends that may have contact with her.

Facebook is a great way to find old friends! You can also try www.classmates.com if it's an old high school pal (or even if you know where she went to school), and I also like www.intelius.com. That one is free up to a point, but you can usually find out what city they are in, what their married name might be, etc. Then you can use www.411.com to try to find a public listing.

You can check on Facebook. I've found lots of people I lost contact with on there. You could also try MySpace. They both have a feature where you can look for someone by name or through school year. They are both free.

Have you tried a networking site like myspace or Facebook? I know I found many lost friends here.

I agree with everyone else's suggestion to use Facebook. If you search and she doesn't come up, doesn't mean she's not on there. It's possible she's married and didn't put her maiden name in the system. If that's the case, you can always search for mutual friends or her relatives and just don't be afraid to send someone a message (you don't have to be a friend of that person on Facebook) just to ask if it's them or someone who knows them.

Classmates.com is good to an extent, but they don't give nearly as much free info as the used to.

Good luck! I found my best friend from when I was a kid that I haven't seen or talked to in about 25 years on Facebook!

You may want to try Facebook. You can search by name and location. All you have to do is sign up (www.facebook.com), then friend search.

Good luck!

just wanted to add that on Facebook, you can search for mutual friends or relatives of your old friend if you dont see your friend on there right away. Then there is a feature that you can look at all of THEIR friends and you might see her there. She may be looking for you too :-)
