This happened in my classroom all the time. Write over it with dry erase and wipe off before the dry erase marker is totally dry. It cleans up the marker right away.

If you write over the permanent marker with dry erase marker, it comes off. No clue why, but it works.

Try Rubbing Alcohol.

It also removes marks from walls etc.
But do a test spot first.

My roommate in college wrote on my dry erase board with a permenant marker, and I used nail polish remover. It took off 95% of it right away, and with time the rest wore off! Good Luck!

Too bad I didn't have this sight years ago!

We had a dry erase board that we used for a variety of things including when the dog got his medicine. So SM = Shadow Medicine was written in permanent marker. My husband, for as long as we used the little calendar and that day came up would say, "Sex, Maybe?"

I was going to suggest rubbing alcohol but the other ideas probably work just as good.
