We recently received an almost new (purchased 2 months ago) leather office chair from a relative. The chair is an excellent condition except for the fact that it smells moldy/mildewy. We've assumed that it spent the 2 months stored in her damp basement. So my question is..how can we get the smell out? Any suggestions are appreciate it.

I had a leather love seat that we stored in our basemendt and had the same problem=- I sprayed it with Sol-U-Mel and let it sit outside in the sun for a day- It has been a few months and the smell hasn't returned.

I just bought a brand new leather recliner and it smells like mildew - actually more of a musty smell. I expected the "new leather" but not this. I've tried murphy's oil soap, vinegar and water, covering it with newspapers, and twirling around three times and throwning salt over my shoulder. It's been two months and I have to keep it covered with a blanket and then the blanket smells musty. It's really a problem with my asthma.
The Sol-u-Mel sounds interesting.
It's dead animal. It's probably rotting. Throw it out and get a vinyl one. My mother found one on clearance for $12 last year. You have to shop around for the sales.
I've never tried this but I've heard that peanut butter is a great cleaner for leather. Also, have you tried Murphy's Oil Soap? That may do it!
This might sound strange. But to get the musty smell out of our leather car seats (infant twin boys, parents too sleepy to realize the windows were down during a terrential downpour) we were told to cover it with a new plastic shower curtain and let it "bake" for a day. Worked like a charm, I assume the principle would be the same for a chair.
see if you can find some leather cleaner and conditioner and see if that helps. may be also put it outside in the sun when it is nice for a day when you know it is not going to rain.
There is a product called Leather Life, call ###-###-####, ask for Nancy to place an order. It is the most amazing product for leather I have ever used. I am not sure of the price but it is fairly cheap. Softens protects and smells like leather too! You could also try saddle soap but the Leather Life is much easier to apply and wipe off.
I would wet a towel with Febreze and give it a good rub down. Then let it sit out in the sun to dry out and air out. Good luck!
