How Do I Find a Landlord?

Hi Moms,

I own a condo that I do not live in. I want to lease it out because I would not get what I paid for it 3 years ago if I put it up for sale in this economy right now. I need this condo to generate an income for me. So, here is my problem: I do not want to be a landlord. I want to hire a company to act as my agent, I guess. I realize they charge fees/perecentage, etc. Does anyone know how much they charge, so I don't get suckered? Who is reputable in this business? But most importantly, where in the world would I begin to find a company to handle the landlord duties? Realtor, property management? I'm clueless.

Thanks,

MC

I have a friend that handles lease with an option homes. She is incredibly nice and honest. The two houses next to us are both up for sale and/or lease with an option/rent. In addition my husband does winterizations and property management. Depending on where you are located he could take care of the property or maybe he knows someone in your area. If you are interestd in getting more information please respond to the above email and I will be happy to talk you you further. T.

Some real estate companies rent out properties. Check into them. We rent out a house that we could not sell, but could not afford to hire a landlord compnay becuz it was not cost effective in our economy. But we did look into century 21 and remax. I dont remember the prices.

That is what my husband does for a living. His company is BDB Properties ###-###-####. They do any and all the "landlord stuff" you need. We have been in business for 12 years.

I'm sorry this is so late, but if you haven't hired a company yet, I'd check out North Oakland Real Estate Management
1989 N Opdyke Rd, Auburn Hills, MI ###-###-####. I worked with them when I was trying to find a renter for a house I own. They were very helpful, friendly, trustworthy, inexpensive and, best of all, found a renter much faster than I could have by myself! I didn't want them to assume landlord duties, but often they do. I have no problem recommending them to you. I am certainly satisfied.

Look for a property management company, ask for references and check the BBB. If you have a Mortgage Lender that has built a strong relationship with you, or a realtor they maybe able to refer you to someone a good banker or realtor would have a portfolio of people they do business with like a property management company.

There are many property management companies in the metro area. That's what you need. (I used to do that for a living.)

If someone doesn't give you a name, google property management and you should find what you are looking for!

Good luck!
