I wore a hat. Seriously. For the whole winter. Except when I showered or slept. I'm not even kidding you. I had dredlocks and I shaved them off, which was fine, but then when my hair started to grow out it was awful. Really awful.
My hair is not that short, but it is just a ugly cut that needs to grow out! But I guess I'm having problems with regret. I hate I did it. And I want it to hurry up and go back. Thank u so much for your encouraging words. But how did u gain your confidence back?

I am a hair freak! Whenever the mood (which is at least 2x a year) strikes me I change my hair...drastically! I have had almost every variation of short and long styles that my hair can support (including shaving it all off except a line of bangs, ahhh to be 17 again) AND more than my fair share of styles that were a big "no no" :) Yes, believe it or not I looked and felt comfortable with the bald head...like I said again, ahhh 17!
I tell myself not to sweat it...it's just hair, it will grow back! I tell myself this over and over again:) and it is hair and it does grow back!
Tricks of the trade:
Hair mudd or good styling product
Hair clips and barrettes
Braids...of all kinds
Curling iron
Hats
Bandannas
Play with it and I am sure you will be able to find something that brings a shred of hope...thus bringing back the confidence!
I feel ya woman...IMO, the only thing worse than finishing a good book IS getting a bad haircut! :)
I got an ugly short cut & an extremely curly perm at the same time! I cried hysterically for hours. Stylist assured me it would relax or I could relax it. I went home to do it myself cuz i sure didn't trust her to do anything else. I couldn't do anything with it. Next day I called salon & found out stylist was not there for 3 weeks as she was on vacation to hawaii!!!! Life lesson, make sure stylist doesn't have plans going on that take precedence over you! Salon didn't want to refund my money & they told me that everyone else was too busy for me to come in & have them correct it. I then told the manager that I would come on over & let everyone in the waiting room see what they did to me & it would open up some chairs. When i got there & the manager saw me, he apologized & told me honestly that she jacked me up & no one could correct what she had done & he gave me 4 times what I had paid her. I joked with friends as best I could over a rotten situation & ironically during that horrible grow out period, I dated more guys than I ever had. perhaps they felt bad for me....regardless, looking back it was a fun time for me & I ended up meeting my husband with that ick hairdo, so sometimes you just got to grin & bear it & remember, this too shall pass. U have my sympathy.
Are you pregnant? I chopped my hair off when I was 5 months pregnant. What was an easy pregnancy turned bad because I hated it and was extremely self-conscious when I wasn't before. It seems so silly but it can really affect your attitude when you don't want to look in the mirror. I hardly took pictures of myself during my pregnancy and I do regret that. The good thing is: hair grows!! It'll look better before you know it. I don't know how to help you with your confidence because personally, mine was shot for a while (with all the added weight, etc) but maybe a stylist could help you learn to do your new 'do - maybe some products or highlights would help it? Or try getting a makeover - they give them free at dept. stores - that takes the focus away from your hair. I hope this helps a little. Just know that you are not alone and this happens to everyone - in the grand scheme of life, a few months with a bad style is nothing. :)
Headbands.
They have saved me more than once. I love change, so I am constantly changing my hair. Most times I'm happy with it, but sometimes it's just awful. When I need to get through a rough patch, I buy lots of pretty headbands. They work wonders! Remember that we're always harder on ourselves than others are. We always think we look worse than others think we look. Try not to be too hard on yourself. I hope you find a way to like yor hair while you wait for it to grow back. :-)
Hair grows back. Like some other posters mentioned....get creative with headbands, caps, braids.... Really.....you are the one it is bothering, not others.... Pick yourself up and realize that you can get through it.
If it is draining you to this extreme emotionally.............. go get hair extensions.
My daughter had a really bad haircut last year and to fix the odd shape we had to cut it even shorter. In one day she went from shoulder length hair to a dutch boy cut up to her ears. Yikes! One thing that we did to regrow her hair was used the shampoo called Nioxin (spelling?). It stimulates the scalp to open the hair folicals. At least that is what I was told. Best of luck. I am sure you are beautiful with this new cut. And know that week by week it will slowly change and you will once again be comfortable again. Think hair growing thoughts ;)
B.,
Believe me the sun is going to come up tomorrow and no O. else in the world is AS aware of your haircut as you are. I promise. Confidence comes from within. You can choose a mantra and repeat it 25 times per day. Example: "I am beautiful and powerful." Good luck!
