I've heard that when sap seeps out of a tree it is in distress. Maybe it is infested with ants or other insects and it is dying. not sure if you can save it. what is the life span of a peach tree? maybe it's approaching it's normal life span? good luck.

I believe that your peach tree has wood bores or peach bores. If you are seeing sap coming out of your tree that's what the problem is. Go to your plant nursery and talk w/one of the employees there. I have had the same problem w/my peach tree and they told me to use a fruit & nut tree spray. You need to spray the entire tree in Sept, Nov, the end of Jan, and again after the buds have fallen. Then you will need to spray again once the peaches have started growing. Hopefully the bugs haven't done too much damage.

We have a heavily wooded lod (no fruit trees though) and we work closely with Condren Tree Services in the Plano area.

I'm sure they could give you some guidance. They are a great company and they know their trees well. I'll tell you up front that they will not be the cheapest person you call.

How old is the tree? I remember being told that peach trees just live 10-15 years. Treating the borers can help prolong its life and fruitbearing, but it will die eventually.

check out www.dirtdoctor.com. Howard Garrett is an organic gardner who offers great advice. He has a great recipe for sick trees, including fruit. Also, check with a local nursery, not Lowes or Home Depot type. Good luck!
