Housesitting

Well here in Ca they charge 25$ a day just to check on a dog twice a day. So find a trustworthy person and give them a lump sum number and see if you get a bite. Don't ask them for a number because you may end up paying more than you want to. Also i find it kind of nice to let my dogs go to the kennle when we go away. but we have a pool and a rec center for our pups...i gues we're spoiled lol. of course the price is just was much if i were to let someone live in my house and take the chance of them taking something or them being hurt on my property.

I pay $30 a day which is a 24 hour period. I know that seems obvious, but if I get back at 2pm on the last day, I don't pay for a full day.

I have been paying $30 a day for a few years now. It seems like a lot, but the woman stays in my house, does light watering, brings in the mail, takes out the trash, feeds and waters the dogs and cat, and gives them meds as needed.

I am willing to pay more for someone, as then I don't worry....at all. My alternate housesitter charges $40 and has veterinary assistant experience.

I really think that unless you have a college age family member who lives at home that you trust and wants a place to hang their hat for free, then you get what you pay for.

4 years ago I pet sat and did house sitting. I charged $30 per night (here in Houston--and I was supervisor at an animal clinic...some people prefer that you have experience with pets). That would including taking care of the pet if their was one. I know some people want to pay less and figure that since they are sleeping at their house it shouldn't cost much. But they still have their rent to pay and the uncomfortableness of not being in their own home.

You pay for this? Dangit I got fleeced! I pet and house sat for a couple who went away on their honeymoon for a week and had to drive over twice a day to medicate their aging kitty (not fun!), scoop the litterbox and feed them.

It ended up costing me $40 because they left with only a few cans of cat food in the house and the cat is on a special expensive diet. I bought the food and gently reminded them twice about the cost I incurred during the course of taking care of their pets but never got reimbursed.

I don't talk to them anymore.

We house/pet sit.

If we house sit with cats, it is $20. per day.

If it is with a dog that does not need to be walked (stays in back yard) $30. per day. If it is a dog that needs to be walked 2 to 3 times a day it is $40. per day..

This includes care of house plants, and our own clean up.. (even with a house keeper) we try not to give the house keeper extra work. .
