K..
I would say about 100 bucks or so, because not much is involved other than being at the house & feeding the dog.
How much would you pay a housesitter? We have a trip planned this summer and a house on the next street was robbed twice while they were recently away on vacation. We would just want someone to stay at our house. There would be no work other than to feed the dog. Just curious. TIA!
Edited to add: we would need the sitter for around a week.

maybe $100
I also recommend a $3 timer available at any hardware or big box store. Plug a lamp into the timer (that's plugged into the outlet) and set the timer so the lamp automatically turns on in the evening and off in the morning.
Anyone watching your house will see the light and assume someone is home/awake.
When I worked for a pet sitting agency in the NY/NJ area back in 2000, I was paid $250 for 2 weeks. They already had a house cleaner who came to clean. I just stayed and took care of the dog. And that was my wages, not what they paid. But I was happy with that! (plus use of their indoor pool!)
I recommend asking friends for referrals or maybe even a neighbor who may have a relative that would like to come for a visit. There is also home exchanges if you don't already have a place to stay where u are going.
approximately $300 for a week
We pay $25/night which is the same that we would pay if we took our dog to a "kennel" (doggie daycare overnights).
I haven't used mine in a couple of years for overnights but they charged $50/night at the time. This included feeding, watering, cleaning up after the pets, bringing in the mail and making it looked lived in (so more than just the assumed feeding only).
I pay my housesitter/pet sitter $40 to spend the night and each time she comes over during the day, usually 2 times for about an hour each, I pay $25.
She shows up about 6 or 7 and stays until she is ready to go the next morning.
So 7 nights = $280
14 visits = $350
Total - $630... I round up so I'd pay $650
It is clear that my house is not empty. She takes care of the trash bins, mail, flyers, dogs (3), etc.
Do you guys have a security system? Our rates are as low as $12.95 month and you can save up to 20% on your homeowners policy.
Where do you live? If close, I could feed your dogs ;-)
