Hospital Beds Argh!

I am preparing to give birth to baby #3 within the next 2 weeks. I have to stay at the hospital for 48 hours so I will be spending at least 2 nights in the very uncomfortable hospital beds. That is the one thing I look back on both births and cringe over! Does anyone have any tips on how to make them more comfortable? The worst part is the bar that runs right where my tailbone sits so no matter how I adjust my sleeping I can always feel it. So any tips or suggestions would be welcome!

What can I do next?

Maybe you could bring with you a new sponge mattress pad that will help with the metal. My son had two of them on the bed that he has at home due to an accident that made him have to sleep in the livingroom (couldn't climb steps with broken legs).

It's only for two nights. If the mattress is too much how about a pillow?

Congrats on the birth may it be safe and quick.

When I delivered, the staff brought in a gel like cover for the bed after I had delivered. It was so comfy that I actually didn't mind sleeping in the bed. With my first I was moved from the labor suite to an actual recovery room and that bed had a topper of some kind too making it better (though not great). I would see about bringing something to put over the bed, either blankets or a topper of some kind if the hospital doesn't have them

I was in the hospital for a month and a half due to an accident. What I did to make that horrid hospital bed better was 1) have my family bring my own blankets and pillows 2) use heating pads. I was literally bed ridden for a whole month and could not walk so this is what I did. I highly recommend bringing your own things even though it's only for 2 days.
