Hose or No Hose (Boston) - Holiday Party

I have my husband's holiday party this weekend. I have a gold dress with sparkly open toed shoes. I was planning to go without hose then realized this trend of a few years ago may be over. Can I go without hose?

What can I do next?

I'm no trendsetter, but I have never worn hose. :)

I really dislike them with open toed shoes, I think it makes the toes look weird. I also live in FL so being warm isn't really a concern. ;)

I think it's totally up to you.

If you have open toed shoes, you should go with no hose... or get the hose that stops midfoot so that your toes are exposed. Personally, I like wearing stockings so that my legs are warmer.

You can go without, but I like the idea of cute/fashionable hose for a holiday party or in the winter in general. Something dark with a mild pattern - nothing distracting or child like. Paint your toes rich dark red with the open toe shoes and the sheer/designed hose, as Tim Gunn says, "hose should be seen"

The trend seems to be less about sheer panty hose, but more opaque tights. I say pair the dress with a darker, opaque tight! Black, grey, green... have fun with it!

I don't wear hose with open toed shoes- -it just looks weird to me. But everyone has their own style. If you can change to closed toed shoes, wear hose.

The no hose trend isn't over however I'd probably wear no hose with open toe shoes so that everyone would be able to see my pretty nail polish.

Hate hose - but it's cold out. But you'll be inside. So you will be chilly while outside, but comfortable inside :). Do what's comfy for you!

If it will be cold, wear the hose or the footles leggings as suggested below. If not cold, then I wouldn't wear them, unless of course they are sparkly and will enhance your overall look or they are thigh high and your husband will find them sexy. :)

I've never understood the no hose trend because my feet feel horrible in shoes without them. In winter, I would definitely go with the suggestions mentioned below.

You can do either - what ever you are comfortable with. I don't know how formal this event is but, if the dress is at or above knee level, cute high dress black boots (with heel of course) would look great with the dress. That way you don't have to worry about hose or no hose. And boots are in style right now. I am sure you will look wonderful whatever you decide.

Hey T.! I have my holiday party in Boston too this weekend! Where is yours?? That's cool! Mine is at the Mandarin Oriental.
I am not wearing pantyhose and I never do with formal dresses like that. I don't think the trend is over. Actually, I didn't even know there was a trend! LOL
Anyway, people that go to mine usually don't wear them either. The hotel we have ours at is really formal.

Buy a pair and see which way looks best to you. :o)

I, personally, prefer to wear hose in the Winter...even if they're just nude in color.

I don't know if they still make them, but I used to get toeless pantyhose either Hanes or one of the major brands make them. Great solution for the open toe shoes.
