Ok I know I should go to a dermatologist, but I can't afford the co-pay at the moment. As soon as I get a job I will, but till then :(
Ok so what do you all do for hormonal acne?
I wash my face of course and I have tried so many different washes and moisturize. I have found a cleaner that really works for once. I usually am like a 13 year old walking around. But now it's just around when I ovulate and sometime around my period. IS there anything I can do for those or do I just have to suffer? I am on the Mireana IUD which it has helped it every so slightly.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Soooo glad I'm not alone. I'm so sick of looking like I don't take care of myself. I DOOOO! I swear! Right now I'm using Clean & Clear acne and black head control in the purple bottle. It seems to help majorly, but like someone said, the painful to rub against and just to look at pimples seem to sprout everywhere!!One showed up this morning :( I've tried tea tree oil to put on them and seems to cut down their life.

I have PCOS and have hormonal acne too. My GYN said that the IUD doesn't have enough hormones to help with acne, so I'm using the Nuvaring for birth control. It was either that or the pill.

It still doesn't take care of all of the acne, but makes it better. I still have not found the "magic" cream that will make it better when I do get a flare up. The Proactiv lotion seems to help, but it doesn't get rid of it.

For me I try not too put a lot of the cleaners and creams on, they tend to make it worse years ago when I had issues like that. Just clean your face, don't pop the pimples :). They have all those miracle creams, that cost a bundle, but probably don't help much. Maybe a pharmacist can advice the best cream over the counter.\

I got it too right around age 40 it was bad. I tried the Mary Kay acne treatment, and it cleared right up.I had it for years, and it was totally gone in just about two weeks. I get an occasional flare up now and then, but I've never had the stuff not work. I bought it about 4 years ago and still have most of the tube left. Its only about 7 bucks!

I wish someone had a great answer for you. I am in the same boat almost 40 and my skin is horrid. I have deep cysts that form in clusters...my chin is one huge group of pimples. Now next to my eye has broken out the same and my cheek has just started.

And it really really hurts...if you just brush against it, it will throb.

I did go to the dermatologist and he gave me a cream to try and said if that didn't help they only course left for me would be Accutane. I have read it has horrible side effects and you need blood tests every few weeks because it can damage your liver. So, I haven't been back to see him. The cream did not work.

I will be checking back on your answers...but you are not alone.

Try swallowing one dry yeast pill every morning on empty stomach (away from next meal approx. a hour). Natural yeast is great for skin from the inside out.

I have mild acne, and I tried many different solutions. In highschool, the ortho-tri-cyclen pill fixed it (but for some reason the cheaper generic version didn't...) and and then when I went off of BC it came back. Since then I tried Proactiv, clearasil, clean & clear... etc. My skin is actually pretty dry, and all of them made it dry out and get flaky.

What has worked the best for me, is using st Ives apricot "naturally clear blemish and blackhead" scrub... with no face lotion (except SPF if I am outside) washing with that every other day. I truly believe everyone is different, but that is what works for me! (worth a try if you have not) When i don't use it, I get zits right away. Also, I don't usually wear makeup... and when I do, I use clear skin foundation from nutregena.

Good Luck!

I'm the same way, I totally feel your pain! I am SO over it. And it's gotten so bad since I've had my baby. Um, hello, this was 10 months ago! I've always had tempermental (I know that's not spelled right..) skin that would break out every so often. My first trimester was awful, and now every month before my period I break out like a 15 year old. I've tried everything: no sugar, drinking tons of water, Proactiv, Mary Kay.... the list goes on. I haven't found any miracle but just waiting it out and trying (hah, yeah right) not to stress! You're not alone!
