Looking for something to help me stop over eating. I'm an emotional eater. I am doing my part by exercising, but I can't stop binging. About half the week I follow weight watchers, and the other half I'm outta control. Wondering if anyone has tried it and if it works.

What can I do next?

Replace th food with something else. Kinda like smokers who use lolly pops or gum. Try going for a long walk when the urge strikes. Do it for a day you'll feel more confident, then another day, then another. as time goes you will feel more in control over your decisions. : )

Hi L.,

I am the same way...emmotional eater...Stick with Weight Watchers..It is fantastic! I think with being a single Mom and raising three kids and college you have your hands full. I have a supportive dr. that has prescribed Meridia in addition to my exercise and Weight Watchers. It helps take the edge off and makes you feel full faster but can cause high blood pressure. I am due this next week for my 2nd child and will be going back to Weight Watchers and my nutritionist and dr. Where do you attend your meetings...Need extra support let me know. In the meantime try low point snacks that are filling etc...I know it is hard believe me.

Hi L.,
I'm a little concerned about you wanting to try diet pills when you recognize you're an "emotional eater". Just to throw something out there: why not work on that (i.e. in therapy) in combination with your healthy life style (exercising) to achieve some long-term gain? I know therapy isn't cheap, but neither are diet pills, which aren't even guaranteed to work and don't indicate what they'll do to your body long-term.
Please don't feel discouraged -- I'm just saying this to try to help.
M.

Well, I would stay away from any supplement to be honest. If it is supposed to make you not feel hungry and therefore not eat, then I would think if you are not hungry anyway and still eating it wouldn't make a difference.

I am also an emotional eater and it is such a struggle. I have found if I make myself wait for something- like if I crave chocolate I will tell myself in two hours I can have chocolate. By then I am usually fine going without. Good luck to you.

Hello,
Have you focused on why you over eat? What happens right before you start to over eat. Focus on that and elliminate it. I bet if you take out all the things that stress you, if you can, you would be better off mentally and physically. Somethings can be toxic even if we love them. People, and items.

I took an over the counter diet pill that contained hoodia. It gave me high blood pressure. I'm not sure if it was the hoodia, or something else in the mix, but I typically have low blood pressure, and it did go back down as soon as I stopped taking the pills. I'm not really sure that it helped curb my appetite anyway. I would suggest that you make sure you are taking a good multivitamin every day, as well as a chromium supplement (lots of people like Chromium picolinate, I personally like the Vitamin Shoppe's chromium "glucose tolerance factor" formula.) Chromium really does help prevent that really bad feeling that comes with low blood sugar. That, and drink a lot of water too. Good luck!
