I would at least double the amount you spend on material and supplies to make the pillows. You can sell them on a website called itsy.com It is for all kinds of craft like items from around the world.
I have a 3yr old and she loved these guys from nickelodeon and I have a knack for drawing so I made my own stuffed pillow with my drawing of her favorite characters and was wondering if you moms would ever purchase something like this and if you would how much would you pay for them. I thought of this because it was so much fun for me to do because even online you cannot find these pillows anywhere. Please I would love the imput and would love to send you pics of my work. The pillows are about almost 3ft tall. Please let me know what you think and if you would purchase one and for how much. Thanks ladies

the website is etsy.com not itsy.com
I'd love to see a picture of them... My daughter loves these characters..
Can you send me a pic at ____@____.com
Thanks
I would love to see a picture of the Moose and Zee pillows. My kids are also huge fans of them and I have never seen those characters on anything.I am not sure of a price point. I guess what I would look at is the fabric, size (which you said they were almost 3 ft tall), how much were the cost of materials and your time spent making them. Post a picture and see what people think!
Also, the etsy.com site is wonderful. I find that a lot of moms or just about anyone looking for unique handmade items shop and sell their items on there :)
I'm not sure if you could legally sell those....do you have copy right privliges?
do you take requests?! our son is named Calvin but the artist doesn't license any Calvin and Hobbes stuff. we are looking for room decorations...
Like someone said, I'd be careful about selling things with characters on them. My MIL was just telling me about how one year she sold a ton of Pokemon ornaments (she was kind of insulted that these simple to make ornaments were selling, unlike the beautiful ones she put so much time into) and then was approached by someone warning her that if she got caught selling them, she'd be owing the company a lot more than she made. But if you have a knack for drawing and you're pretty good with the crafty stuff, etsy is a great site to sell your stuff. Just make it original stuff :)
be careful selling character items, they are usually liscensed, which means you can't sell the images... Make up you own cool images, and get them on etsy and/or ebay... go to craft shows, etc... go into business for yourself! that is awesome.
I would LOVE to buy a Brobee pillow for my daughter! She is enamoured with Yo Gabba Gabba! I'm not sure about the licensing mentioned in the previous post, wouldn't even have thought of it, but probably worth looking into legal details if you were going to sell a lot of them. As far as pricing, I think a good rule of thumb is to double your time and materials. So if material cost $5 and it takes an hour to make one (say $8/hr), I would ask $26 each...just an example, I don't know what all you are putting into each one, but you do want them to be affordable as well! You could also set up a facebook page for your creations. Good luck and please let me know if I would be able to purchase a Brobee pillow before Christmas. Thanks!
Hi N.,
I think that the pillows is a great idea. I would love to see them. I have purchased homemade pillow cases with characters airbrushed on them for my two boys before. They loved them. I think I paid $5 a piece for a travel size pillow and pillow case.
Hey N.,
My kids aren't really into that show so I think I'd buy them but I wanted to tell you to check out the website etsy.com. It's a great website. I always check it when I'm looking for a gift that's homemade. GOod luck.
