I always go with the one on the cocoa container. If I make brownies out of a box they just don't come out right, ever.

Pillsbury brownie mix is what works best for me, but to be honest w/you, there are times that i make 6 trays of brownies at a time so I grab whatever is on sale. It's what you put in them that makes them awesome!

I've tried a whole ton of varieties and have gotten pretty good feedback on all of them:

Rocky Road - add marshmallows & crushed nuts (just watch closely as they bake b/c the marshmallows expand!)

Nutella or PB added is always good - just microwave it until warm and smooth around into batter while it's in the pan (just before you put it in the oven).

Smores brownies - I've only used crushed golden graham cereal but I'm sure the crackers would work as well, throw in some marshmallows, mix, pour into pan & bake.

Peppermint patty - Cut up pieces of candy mix into batter.

Btwn my girls, their friends/family and the 2 police depts my husband works for, we're always trying something new! Good luck!

PS When baking I usually cut the cook time by about 10 mins so just check them a little earlier to be sure they don't burn.

I am, in most cases, a firm believer that anything you bake tastes better if you make it from scratch rather than from a mix. However, I have NEVER found a brownie recipe that can top the boxed ones. I have tried many, my mom has tried many more, and for whatever reason, they just aren't as good. My two favorite boxes:
1. Ghiradelli - we always get the double chocolate at Target or any market, but Costco has the triple chocolate. Not sure if triple is better or not... my son is allergic to triple but not double, so that's how we chose.
2. Betty Crocker Supreme - original mix with the Hershey's syrup packet

Both are sooooo good. Much fudgier, tastier, better textured than any I've ever tried from scratch.
