Well it looks like I jinxd myself (previous ?). I started 5 days late and it is the mother of all periods, really bad cramps, headache, super nausous (sp) vary heavy. I know tmi but I'm normally lgiht very quick like less than 2 days type of periods. This happened to me about 6 months ago same deal. I am wondering if I could have had a "bad" egg? I was (-) for tests so could it have happened that my body was preparing for the real deal and it decided to "abort" the mission for whatever reason? We are ttc for over 1.5yrs so I'm used to the disappointment. any whooo just needed to vent thanks for listening.

What can I do next?

I agree with Cheryl. Stop trying, that is exactly what I did and within just a few months it happened.

For the pain, I would take Motrin or Advil every 6 hrs (600mg) and it should help. I am sure most of your symptoms are because of the painful cramps you have.

There are miscarraiges you can have early on but, there really isn't anything that can be done. If you were futher along the doctor may suggest a D & C. If your really concerned, make an appointment and see if the doctor thinks you should have bloodwork or any testing done. You know your body best and if this is pretty abnormal to have such a strong intense period do it for piece of mind.

Good luck and I hope you feel better.

I'm sooo sorry!! This is how I was when I was a teenager - I would have a few months of the exact date starting - then I would be late - knowing I wasn't pregnant because I wasn't having sex - and the first two days were bad - if I started at school, I would have to go home.

If you are bleeding through more than one pad an hour, you need to go to the ER. Don't use a tampon right now so you can gauge how much you are bleeding.

Next - stop trying. It puts a lot of stress on your body and your body reacts. We TRIED for almost 4 years. Constant disappointment - tests, chlomid, almost to the point of IVF when we said - ENOUGH - we got a dog, started having sex for fun again and 4 months later we were pregnant!!

Is it possible that you're developing large cysts some cycles? I'd speak to your doctor about it and see if you can rush in the next time this happens for a transvaginal ultrasound. They'll be able to see a large cyst (or the remnants of) that could be preventing your egg from being released. I'm not sure what, if anything, they could do about it, but it might explain the lateness AND the extreme symptoms.

Have you been keeping a diary of symptoms and dates? Do you track your Basal Body Temp? If you are TTC you really should consider these ideas. I strongly recommend a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility for all women but especially for those TTC.

It will help you know not only when your period will come but when you ovulate so you'll know if you're having irregular periods or very early miscarriages.

Really. All women should read this book.....

Do you use ovulation predictors and take pre-natal vitamins? We did artificial insemination minus the fertility injections and just by taking the pre-natals and using the ovulation kits, it worked the first time. I'd suggest getting an ultrasound if you havent already to see if you have an cycsts as well as a blood test. It will happen, I know even though you can get "used" to it, it is still dissapointing. Just have faith and don't give up. It sounds like your body was preparing and then "aborted" the mission , if you are going to continue to try you need to really try and relax. This is why it happens when women just give up pregnancy and then it magically happens, because you are relaxed and you and your body are not stressing out. Best of luck to you.

So sorry! We are also TTC (6 months actively trying, a year of not preventing) and this happened to me in November. SO frustrating and disappointing. Make sure to do something nice for yourself after your cramps subside... pedicure? Good luck next month!
