Hi S.,
Boy, I feel for you. My husband used to have the most awful migraines. He even had a grand mal seizure when we first got married. He still has one occasionally but we have 2 holistic remedies and a non-holistic remedy. I do believe that cluster headaches have a trigger and I think my husband has multiple triggers, thus the different remedies.
First of all, I keep him on the Melaleuca brand of vitamins that truly absorb along with Provex CV. Provex CV is an antioxidant blend that works to restore elasticity to your vascular system and remove plaque. It is a patented formula that not only is natural but was written up in the AMA Journal 8 times and was featured on Dateline NBC as cutting edge research and development. This has primarily PREVENTED the migraines.
If he does get one the holistic formula we have found is
1 Feverfew capsule
1 Ginkgo Biloba
2 Ginger capsules
1 B12 capsule
taken with 1 teaspoon of Magnesium Citrate (Natural Calm).
He is a large man (6'7") and I usually double the recipe on the first dose. If he still has the migraine within the next hour, I repeat it.
OK, if that doesn't work and sometimes migraines are ornery, I give him two Excedrin Migraine tablets and 1 teaspoon of Children's liquid Benadryl that has the dye in it.(Cherry or Bubble Gum; he HATES it!) The one without the dye does not work and the tablets and capsules don't work either. This will knock the headache out within 15 minutes for him. (I'm sure it has nothing to do with the Benadryl but one of the dangerous additives that is in it. I hate giving it to him but it isn't often.) If we are out of town and can't get to our other stuff, the local drugstore always has this.
We have traveled a long road with this and I know it affects your employment just as it did his...We are self employed and it has worked best for us because of his headaches.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you want to talk further. There may be some triggers you can remove from your life.
Regards,
M.
P.S. I ditto the chiropractic also.
