We have a nanny that comes 2 days a week. She is a 20 year old college student. I am wondering how much should I give her for a holiday gift?

Thanks for the help!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I should have given that info :)...she starting watching them in September. I have 4 kids ages 3 and under snd she helps me out while I am home so I can get house work and other things done. She is helpful, but I wouldnt say she goes above and beyond.

around $50 should be good since she has only been watching them part time and for only part of the year. HOWEVER as a former Nanny and current home daycare provider I will tell you that we DO care about what you give, if you give something that shows you know us, it means so much more. Does she always wear a certain type of clothing? (Disney, Holister, Aeropastle, etc.) What are her hobbies? (photography, scrapbooking, reading, working out, etc.) What has she mentioned she really likes or wants? ("I love your banana bread, it is SO good!" - then you could give her a few loaves of that to enjoy at her house)

If the thing that matches her style, personality, isn't costing that much then a gift card to somewhere or an envelope with cash and a card (have a note in there from the kids).

I'd give her a $50 gift certificate to a mall that she could use at any shop. I wouldn't go any less than that since you have 4 children that she watches.

How long has she been taking care of your children and how's she doing?

My son just started with his sitter 3 weeks ago. I pay her $50 a week to watch him 3 nights for 4 hours before going to sleep. I plan on paying her an extra $25 and buying a small gift for her and each of her 3 kids.

A weeks pay with a handwritten note from the kids is "standard"!

For a full time nanny, we usually give about two weeks salary plus a gift or two that cost around $200. That's full time all year. So I'd figure 1/3rd of one week's salary since she's been there a third of a year and is only PT. if that ends up being less than $40 or $50, I'd spend the $40 or $50 I think.

one week's pay is pretty standard for a nanny tip.
