I really like the outfits at Crazy 8. It's not super cheap but if you need a special outfit, this is where I usually look first.
Where do you shop for your children's holiday clothes and how much do you pay? I have a little boy who will be 13 months at Christmas time. We want to have a special outfit for him to wear for a family portrait and for Christmas. We are looking for something dressy, but not a suite. Any suggestions? We have to make a 40 minute drive to go shopping somewhere other than the local walmart (which I haven't seen holiday clothes at yet), so I would like to have some sort of plan of attack. Also, when do these clothes come out in the stores? Thanks for the help!
Edited: For our family portrait, my husband will be wearing his Class A Army Uniform (dressy), so I would like the outfit to be nice. At least some sort of collared shirt (which is what he wore last year when he was 2 weeks old).
Thank you for all of the responses! I am going to hit up the local thrift store this weekend, and if I can't find anything I will wait and check out some stores when the inventory is displayed. I have looked at all of the websites and there are some great outfits. I am thinking of looking for some kind of argyle sweater or sweater vest, that way it is dressy, but he can still play with his cousins comfortably. My little baby will look just like a little man!

We have several children's resale shops. I always look there first, especially for these items, because 1) he will wear it only two times unless it isn't especially Christmasy and 2) the child who wore it before only wore it two times himself for the same reason. That said, typically there is a big selection of clothes in excellent condition for less than retail price.
If there is no resale shop, try eBay.
If you want something new, I love Gymboree for the designs, the material content (almost all items are 100% cotton), and the durability. You'll be selling it on eBay when you are done with it.
Well..... it all depends, on how you want your child to be dressed for holiday photos or a family portrait.
Here where I live, there are so many ways of dress for these family portraits.
Some are formal traditional holiday clothing, some are aloha shirts, some are surf t-shirts and board-shorts in Christmas colors, some are in bathing suits, some are on a surfboard, some are just in red clothing and the family all wears something in red and green.
So, it all depends, on what you want your photos to be.
Me: I have never gotten my kids "formal" Holiday clothing per Holiday photos or portraits. We just dress in fun clothes and all together in an outdoor setting.
Order online. Then you don't have to drive... all that way.
Try Old Navy
Gap
Gymboree
They all have holiday clothing.
Kohl's or JC Penny and I try to spend $25 or less.
I love whimsy at that age. My fav would be the chocolate soup brand. There are only 2 stores in the nation that I am aware of. So people are not very aware of this brand making the resale very low on eBay.
I also love Strasburg but a bit pricey. Jacadi is another classic brand. If you want comfort and style, I would recommend Naartjie. If you want quality that can be worn for a longer period then it would be Hanna Andersson.
Carters/Osh Kosh have cute clothes and you can order on line if you don't have a store nearby. Their sizes are accurate and their prices are reasonable. Hanna Anderson and Gymboree also are on line sites with cute holiday outfits. FYI - Hanna Anderson isn't always the quickest shipping, so allow at least two weeks if you order from them.
walmart, kmart, jc penney's khols should all have the dressy clothing coming out soon. little outfits with pans and shirt and vest w/tie your little one will be a doll. also jsut a suggestion. look online at ebay, and thos stores sites etc I jsut went yesterday to our local thrift store. got 3 velvet holiday dresses that look like they were worn for a holiday photo and thats it lol. got them for like $2 each for our goddaughters. they will look stunning in them
The Children's Place has some great outfits, and you can buy them online. Free shipping for orders over $75. If you use the coupon code: FIEND, you will get 25% off your order. They have great quality clothes and some really cute holiday items, not to mention any other occassion.
I shop at kohls for that stuff. They've got some cute little suit sets .
Yes, I agree with Children's Place too. Also Baby Gap has adorable stuff! It is usually holiday-ish, but maybe not your typical holiday plaids, etc. I have also found stuff at like TJ Maxx and such. Usually Ralph Lauren has adorable traditional holiday stuff (plaids, etc.) and you can find them at a decent price at places like that.
I always buy my child's clothes at consignment shops and they're pretty good at keeping with the season. I bought mine a beautiful X-mas dress last year with a matching headpiece and they have a lot of name brand stuff too. If you don't have one of these shops close by I'd suggest online shopping if Wal-mart isn't carrying what you want. Good Luck.
I just got a couple of super cute outfits for my kids at Children's Place. They have their "dressy collection" out right now and they had some really nice stuff and it was all on sale for 40% off while I was there. I also had a 20% off coupon on top of that, so my kids are going to be decked out for Christmas and it was CHEAP! My daughter's birthday is also 3 days after Christmas, so I bought her two outfits because of the great price I got.
Carters sometimes has good stuff too, so you could try there. They almost always have coupons as well. Good luck and happy shopping!
